La 2025 CrossFit® Games Season promises to be full of new features and significant changes. With a revised format, new qualification methods and an updated calendar, CrossFit® aims to make the competitive experience more accessible and engaging for athletes around the world.

2025 CrossFit Games Season Schedule
CrossFit® Open 2025 (February 27 – March 17, 2025)
The Open marks the start of the season and represents the first step for all athletes who wish to qualify. Here are the dates:
- Workout 25.1: February 27, 12:00 PM PT – March 3, 17:00 PM PT
- Workout 25.2: March 6, 12:00 PM PT – March 10, 17:00 PM PT
- Workout 25.3: March 13, 12:00 PM PT – March 17, 17:00 PM PT
Registration for The Open began on January 15, 2025. It is important to note that all athletes aiming to qualify for the CrossFit® Games must position itself among the top 1% worldwide in the Open to be eligible for the next stages.
In-Affiliate Semifinals
Le In-Affiliate Semifinals Replace Quarterfinals and require athletes to complete workouts at a certified CrossFit® affiliate. The dates are:
- Age Group: April 3 - 6, 2025
- Team: April 24 - 27, 2025
- Individual: 1 - May 4, 2025
- Adaptive: 8 - May 11, 2025
The best 12 world-class athletes in the In-Affiliate Semi-Finals will qualify directly for the CrossFit® Games.
In-Person Qualification Events (IPQE)
IPQEs offer additional qualification opportunities for the Games. Here are the scheduled events:
- Mayhem Classic: Cookeville, TN, USA – April 5 – 6, 2025
- Woodland Fest: Málaga, Spain – 25 – 27 April 2025
- French Throwdown: Montpellier, France – May 9 – 11, 2025
- Rebel Renegade Games: Vanderbijlpark, South Africa – 29 May – 1 June 2025
- Far East Throwdown: Busan, South Korea – May 29 – June 1, 2025
- Syndicate Crown: Knoxville, TN, USA – May 30 – June 1, 2025
- Torian Pro: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia – May 30 – June 1, 2025
- The Fittest Experience: Oklahoma City, OK, USA – May 16 – 18, 2025
- NorCal Classic: Sacramento, CA, USA – June 6 – 8, 2025
- South Cup: Brazil – Dates to be defined (maybe April)
Most of these events will award two places per gender at the Games, with some exceptions such as the Rebel Renegade Games and the Far East Throwdown, which will qualify only one man and one woman.

- Masters and Teenage: August 21 – 24, 2025, Columbus, Ohio

Key Changes to the 2025 CrossFit Games Season Structure
Reduction in the Number of Participants in the Games
- The number of individual athletes qualified for the CrossFit® Games was reduced from 40 to 30 for each gender.
- Le Qualified teams will go from 30 to 20, with the restriction that each affiliate may qualify only one team.
Introducing the In-Affiliate Semi-Finals
This new phase requires that athletes complete workouts at a certified CrossFit® affiliate, increasing the importance of the local community in the qualification process.
In-Person Qualifying Events
With ten global events, the athletes have more chances to get a spot at the GamesAthletes can participate in multiple IPQEs to increase their chances of qualifying.
New Initiatives
Community Cup (9 – 15 June 2025)
A new competition open to all athletes who have completed the Open, divided into levels based on their performance, to promote community participation.
All workouts must be completed within an affiliate.
Pairs Competition (October 2025)
A in-person competition for individual and master athletes, who can form pairs regardless of their geographical location, using their Open scores to qualify.
Community Considerations
Recently, we conducted a survey on our Instagram account asking our community if they would participate in the 2025 CrossFit® Games season.
The results were surprising:
- 69% they answered no
- 20% they are evaluating
- 11% they answered yes
These data reflect how decisions made by CrossFit® Inc. have impacted athlete participation.
The changes to the format and the reduction in the number of qualifiers have provoked mixed reactions.
