Dopo un only year at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, the 2025 CrossFit® Games are moving to the northeast United States. According to Don Faul, CEO of CrossFit®, the choice of Albany reflects the strength of the local community:
“We have a large and passionate community of affiliates in the Northeast region, especially in New York State, and we expect Albany to be the perfect place to bring our entire community together. We are thrilled to partner with MVP Arena to showcase the best of sports.”

An unprecedented format: only three days of competition
One of the most important novelties for 2025 is the shortened duration of the Games. Traditionally held over at least four days, this year's event will be concentrated in just three days, from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd August.
This change raises questions among athletes and fans:
- Will there be fewer events?
- Or will the same number of tests be concentrated in less time?
More details will be revealed in the coming weeks, but the new feature promises to bring an even more intense pace to the competition.
Structure and tourist potential
Located in the heart of Albany, MVP Arena has a capacity up to 15.000 people and offers state-of-the-art facilities, making it ideal for large-scale events. The choice of location is also seen as an opportunity to promote the region:

History of the CrossFit® Games: An Overview
Albany will be the Fifth venue to host the CrossFit® Games in almost two decades of history. Here are the previous locations:
- 2007-2009: Aromas, California
- 2010-2016: Carson, California
- 2017-2023: Madison, Wisconsin
- 2024: Fort Worth, TX
- 2025: Albany, New York
This change highlights the organization’s desire to explore new communities and offer greater accessibility to athletes and fans around the world.
Safety and preventive measures
The decision to move the 2025 CrossFit Games to Albany comes after a tragic accident in 2024 in Fort Worth, where athlete Lazar Đukić died during a swim event.
In response, CrossFit® has implemented new measures to ensure the well-being of athletes in future competitions.
Among the most relevant initiatives, it is a was created Athletes Committee, who will be responsible for improving communication between the company and the affiliate community, listening to their needs and concerns.
Furthermore, it was a new job position has been opened for a Head of Sport Safety, a role dedicated exclusively to supervising and improving safety standards at each event.
These changes represent an important step towards making sport safer and more accessible to all.
