Emma Cary, young promise of American CrossFit®, has recently announced his permanent retirement from competition. After a meteoric career that saw her emerge from the Teen category to the Elite division, Emma has decided to take a new path away from the competitive world.

A Path to Success in CrossFit®
Emma Cary ha began his CrossFit® adventure at the age of 10, dedicating herself with passion and determination to this sport. In 2019, at just 15 years old, she won the title in the Teenage 14-15 category at the CrossFit® Games, immediately demonstrating her extraordinary talent.
In 2021, at the age of 17, became the youngest athlete to qualify for the CrossFit® Games as an individual since 2009, placing 16th in the Open division.
Dopo un back injury which forced her to take a break in 2022, Emma returned in great form in 2023, taking 8th place at the CrossFit® Games and winning the TYR Wodapalooza in 2024.
The Decision to Retire
Despite her successes, Emma went through a deep identity crisis in early 2024. In an Instagram post, she shared her feelings of dissatisfaction and isolation related to her dedication to CrossFit®, realizing that his self-esteem was tied to ephemeral achievements.

During his time away from competition, he discovered a new passion for serving others, by enrolling in a course to become Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and starting her nursing studies.
This experience brought her a joy and sense of purpose that she no longer found in competitive CrossFit®. Emma said:
“A few months ago, I made the decision to step away from competition for good. It was a scary decision, but not as sad as I thought it would be! In fact, I couldn’t be happier that the decision was as simple as no longer finding joy or purpose in CrossFit®, and finding it in other things.”
