Kristi Eramo O'Connell announces her retirement from competitive CrossFit®

Kristi Eramo O'Connell has announced that she will no longer participate in CrossFit® competitionsbut will focus on improving the community through training.

O'Connell shared a very emotional video with some highlights from her career as a competitive CrossFit® athlete, dating back to her first time qualifying for the Games in 2016.

At the beginning of the video you can already understand what the intent is: is announcing his retirement.

If you look at the official ranking right now, it turns out that Kristi Eramo O'Connell finished the CrossFit® Open 23.1 with 241 reps, placing her in 31st place, 23.2A even in 9th place!

“I'm very fit and healthy, but you won't see me continuing the CrossFit® competitive season after the Open,” she said in the video.

Kristi Eramo O'Connell is the owner of CrossFit® Polaris in Ohio with her husband and trainer Patrick.

“I absolutely love competitions and I love challenging myself, but my true passion lies in the grit of training” explains the athlete.

“The training itself is where I learned who I am and that's what helps shape me. And this satisfies me even more than not setting foot on the floor”.

Kristin O'Connell explains that her and Patrick's time is well spent for “grow and give something back to the community, allowing the freedom to face different adventures and athletic challenges”.

Kristin's Career Eramo O'Connell

Kristi is an American CrossFit® athlete with a history of endurance racing. Prior to CrossFit®, Eramo was a college-level swimmer and triathlete for much of her teens and early adulthood.

in 2011 she placed seventh in the USA Age Group National Championship in Olympic Distance Triathlon.  He first participated in the CrossFit® Open in 2014 placing 92nd and finishing 16th at Regionals that same year.

Eramo briefly retired from competition in 2019 after announcing 'some things needed to change', but wasn't sure by how much. She was then contacted by the athlete of the Games Sam Dancer, who asked her if she wanted to join Team Invictus X. He accepted, joining Dancer, Margaux Alvarez and Holden Rethwill in the a Team dei division CrossFit® Games 2019, coming seventh overall.

The following year (2020) she returned to competing as an individual athlete.

  • Last placement at the CrossFit® Games: 13th place
  • CrossFit® Games Best Place: 8th (2021, 2016)
  • CrossFit® Games attendance: 7
  • Positioning in the world Ranking System: 12th
  • CrossFit® Open best: 4th (2021)

His last competition as a CrossFit® athlete was at January at Wodapalooza. She competed on the All American Girls team with Amanda Barnhart and Brooke Wells. Yes. I am ranked 4th in the competition.
