The new Open regulations for the 2021 season, which will lead to select more man and woman Fittest on Earth.
We know that no one wants to read the regulations, but, if you plan to sign up, know that you automatically accept all the conditions imposed and that you must strictly follow it.
Along with the regulation there are CrossFit® anti-doping regulations and, for the first time in history, politics for adaptive athletes.

The Open
I WOD will be released every Thursday at 17.00, Pacific time, ei results will have to be sent by 17.00pm Pacific time the following Monday.
There will be 3 weeks of training at the cost of 15 dollars.
To participate you must register at https://games.CrossFit®.com/register/open.
When registering, you must choose a continent to compete for. The choice of the continent is based on your citizenship and not where you live.
The rules of the Open for individuals
- In addition to the ability to do RX, there will be an opportunity to sign up as scaled, foundation (beginner) and without equipment.
- The category scaled will be ranked based on performance, and the best in class will be positioned below the last Rx placed.
- The category foundation it will be classified according to the performances and the best of the category will be positioned below the last placed scaled.
- Those that they don't have the equipment they will be classified under the foundation. All athletes who will participate in this category they will not be able to proceed to the next round.
- How each workout will be done can be decided by the athlete each week and his result can contain any of these categories. However, to be part of the official ranking, for example in scaled, all WODs must be done in this format, and so on.
- At the end of each week, the best result, for both men and women, will receive (after confirmation by the videos) theamount of US $ 2021,00.
For men and women who will be positioned in the first places of the general leaderboard will be awarded following cash prizes:
First place: USD 15.000,00
Second place: USD 10.000,00
Third place: US $ 7.500,00
Fourth place: USD 6.000,00
Fifth place: USD 5.000,00
NB: Those who hope to move on to the next round will have to film all workouts as these can be requested at any time by CrossFit®.
About the 10% of athletes will be able to qualify for i quarter finals, depending on the number of athletes registered per continent at the end of 21.1. There will be a leaderboard available for each continent.
Those who train in an affiliated box can do it in the presence of a judge with active course for this year (oc.CrossFit®.com). After that, the box owner must validate it (within 48 hours).
Any violation of the rules by the box owner may result in his suspension and other penalties.
Team
- Teams will consist of two men and two women. To register, all athletes must be part of the same box.
- Everyone has to register individually at the Open. Who registers the team, paying 15 dollars, will be recognized as "team manager". He will be responsible for selecting the athletes who will be part of the team.
- The same box can have more than one team signed up.
- An athlete, to be part of the team, must train regularly in the box at least from 1 January 2021.
- Adaptive athletes cannot be part of the team.
- All team participants must be registered as a team before the close of the first WOD of the Open.
- - athletes must live within 100 miles (approximately 161 km) of the box address.
- At any time, CrossFit® can request proof: for example, a bill proving the address, a document proving that the athlete is registered in the box or proof that he regularly trains there (via photos on social networks).
- For the leaderboard, the total time or number of total reps of a wod will be used. If any team member receives a Cap Time in a For Time, the total number of repetitions will be considered.
- It is not mandatory that all the athletes of the team perform all the WODs of the Open. They can score zero points in an event by invalidating the video, for example. However, if the athlete takes 0 in all events, he will not be able to join the team in the later stages.
Quarter-final individuals
- As said before, about the 10% of participants in the Open for each continent can advance to quarter finals. There is a caveat about this percentage, which can change depending on the number of attendees.
- There will be a number of events in between on 8 and 12 April. THEThe exact number was not communicated. If it's like the last few years, it can reach up to 5 events.
- I scores will be reset and the performance in the Open will not be pinch (made with three fingers) taken into consideration at this stage.
- To participate in this phase, the athlete will receive an invitation and will have to re-register on the CrossFit® website by paying $ 50 more.
- If an invited athlete doesn't register, probably will not be replaced.
- All workouts they must be filmed.
- There will be no scaled category.
- The best 50 athletes, men and women will have CrossFit® review their videos to decide who will move on to the next stage. Only after the analysis of the videos will it be decided who will go to the semifinals.
Quarter-finals for the teams
- About the 25% of teams per continent should qualify for the next round, with a minimum of 50 teams.
- To participate in the next round, the team will receive an invitation and must register paying a fee of 100 dollars.
- At this stage, it is mandatory to choose the team with 2 men and 2 women and two substitutes (1 man and 1 woman).
- The tests will be prepared to be carried out by two men and two women.
- There will be a series of events between the 22 and 26 April. The exact number was not disclosed. If it's like in recent years, it can reach 5 events.
- I scores will be reset and performance in the Open will not be considered at this stage.
- All workouts must be filmed.
- There will be no scaled option.
- The top 40 teams will have their videos reviewed at CrossFit® to decide who will move on to the next stage. Only after the analysis of the videos will it be determined who will go to the semifinals.
TODAY THERE IS NO INFORMATION ABOUT THE SEMIFINALS IN PRESENCE. IT IS SAID THAT INFO WILL BE RELEASED LATER BUT WITHOUT A DEFINITIVE DATE.
Online qualification by age group

Adaptive athletes
This is the first year for this category in the Open, therefore, there is a pdf on adaptive athlete policy to download and CrossFit® strongly recommends that you read it.
- There will be 16 subcategories of adaptive athletes.
- To compete in this category, the damage must be permanent and of considerable entity.
- Athletes will declare themselves belonging to the category, but may be required to prove the diagnosis.
- There is no news about any online qualification or participation in the Games, but there is the possibility that this will happen.
