The dates of the Open 2022 have been announced

The Madison staff hasn't finished polishing the i yet barbell and clean the race platforms of the snatch (have you seen who won the 2021 CrossFit Games?!) and already there rumors about the next Open 2022!

Yep, apparently the organization has already warned all participants to get ready!

You read that right: the date of the highly anticipated event 22.1, scheduled for next 24 February.

The news surprised us a little, since C๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜€๐—™๐—ถ๐˜ยฎ decided to announce the date much earlier than usual. A nice marketing move for the company!

But all in all it is also good: this will allow athletes to prepare physically, well in advance. We will probably see the level of competitors rise even more, as they will have more time for specific programming, such as that of Fraser named "HWPO".

Eric Roza's expectations

Il President of C๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜€๐—™๐—ถ๐˜ยฎ, Eric Roza, he wanted to clarify that the I plan to have more than 500 thousand subscribers to the Open, is still valid.

In the year 2021 the number of registrations was just over half of the target, with a total of 263.529 registrations, this meant a 10% increase compared to the registrations of the previous year (2020)

Interestingly, last year turned out to be the lowest entry point in Open history. In fact, in the previous years, the event was gradually increasing, with 2018 being the year with the highest number of subscribers, reaching 429.157 registrations.

Increase expected for Open 2022

It must be said that in the two years of lean cows, the Open has had one different proposal (Online) from those that had been done in other years.

However, the new move of a "Open For Allโ€Conceived by the new president of the brand seems to have pleased the affiliates and their students.

So, if there has been a 10% increase (21 vs 20) from the last enrollments in full pandemic and with few athletes vaccinated, it is reasonable to assume a sizable increase in the near future, in which much of the world will have already done the vaccine and training in the box will be normalized (we hope so!).

Why announce the 2022 Open early?

In our opinion at CrossMag, the reason for the early announcement by the previous Open 22 standards, is likely to be a strategy to reach more affiliates and athletes.

For some time the athletes have been asking for more solidity in planning the dates, so that they could do a proper preparation.

Who knows if this can be a good way to increase the number of participants affiliated with the new one CAP program (C๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜€๐˜€๐—™๐—ถ๐˜ยฎ Affiliate Program), an official programming of the brand.

Eric Roza, since taking office as president, has been dedicated to listening to the demands of his audience, taking into consideration the suggested improvements.

Plus, you are personally committing to making this sport more and more inclusive, creating a series of initiatives such as i virtual games and scholarship programs for schools, so as to train budding crossfitters, without ever forgetting to put into practice methods to increase the number of students of all ages.

The news of the date of the Open 22 also brought the announcement of the launch of a new dedicated section  totally at the Open on the official website: Open.crossfit.com
