7 tips for a beginner in CrossFit®

I recently wondered what advice I would have given myself if I started CrossFit® today, knowing what I already know after a little practice.

Of course, I'm not an elite athlete, but most aren't and won't become. Therefore, this article is dedicated to those who want to start CrossFit® for the desire to do good to themselves and practice a sport that, sooner or later, will make them fall in love.

Let's see some tips that a neophyte must know:

1. Listen to the coach

In the beginning they will be your best guides.

They are the best people to teach you the most difficult movements, they know adapt the exercises so that you can perform them and make sure to prevent any injuries.

Don't think you're invincible; if you have any difficulties or doubts, speak clearly and together you will choose the best way to train.

2. Listen to your body

As much as you consider yourself an athlete, your body probably isn't.

You may be overexcited and want to train insane at first while ignoring the signs of pain. In these cases there is a greater chance of injury and injury ... And not because of CrossFit®, but because you have not listened to your body.

Remember to stop if there is something wrong and do the rest day, which is as important as training!

3. Learn the technique before weight

Lifting huge weights is fascinating.

You learn to do i clean, push & jerk, OHS… All of this is amazing and will push you to seek your maximum every week. But here we go back to point 2… there are complex movements.

Your body must be prepared and your technique must be good, otherwise all the work is lost.

4. Make more footage of your workouts

It's not just to post on Instagram and show videos to friends (in particular, pissing off those who don't make CF) that we film ourselves.

There are no mirrors in the box and we do not have the awareness of the body and movements like a professional athlete.

Therefore, filming help to understand where you are wrong and to understand what you can do in order to improve technique and movement.

5. Mobility, Mobility, Mobility

I didn't even know what it was when I joined CrossFit®.

Whenever my shoulder cries when I do an overhead, I wonder why I've never trained it before.

Working hard on mobility is something every crossfitter should do. EVERYDAY. With dedication. Try to make a pistol without having the necessary mobility… it doesn't come to you.

If you can't, you'll always be a scaled ... and you don't want it, do you?

6. Ask questions, even online

We can't learn everything in one lesson. Coaches are not always able to see theexecution of all your movements with total and absolute attention.

Don't be afraid or ashamed to express your doubts. In addition, there are excellent sites (someone said CrossMag?) is community on Telegram (like ours, which is the best!) which, with different shares, videos and articles, can help you overcome the difficulties and perform the notorious Muscle Up, for example.

7. Be patient

This is the most valuable advice.

Basically, it's the union of everyone else: be patient!

You won't come out of the box doing 20 MU unbroken or one snatch of 100 kg in your first month.

The more you are in a hurry and anxious to achieve certain results, the greater the possibility of accident. CONTROL YOUR EGO, even if your partner pulls more weight than you do.

Be patient and you will see that everything will come the moment it has to come. In the meantime, enjoy the process. Enjoy learning and traveling. Do not rush!

Many start charged and motivated, and then leave after a year, but if you follow these tips, you will go far!
