Did you know that on average a supermarket has more than 40.000 products? No wonder that wandering through the many corridors and choosing what to buy for a correct and healthy diet is difficult.

Make an organized plan before you shop

Before entering the supermarket, make sure you have one well-defined list of all the ingredients you need to buy; even before the list, think about the meals you want to prepare for the next week, so making the list will be even easier!

You can also save time organizing the list by ward or department (for example, first mark all the fruit and vegetables, then group the meat and fish and finally the frozen foods); I recommend that you always stick to the list to avoid wandering around aimlessly and above all not to buy unnecessary and unhealthy items.

Have a snack before shopping

It may sound silly, but it works! Eating something before entering the supermarket helps to avoid the temptation to buy junk food or overfill the cart.

Le protein danno force and resistance, therefore choose a protein source to complete your hunger-break snack, such as wholemeal crackers and spreadable cheese or wholemeal sandwich with bresaola.

Always read the labels

Whenever you choose a food in the supermarket check the label and its nutritional values; try to choose whole grain products, without the addition of corn syrup, fructose, hydrogenated oils, preservatives, artificial flavors and sweeteners.

The shorter the ingredient list, the better for your fitness expense! Processed foods tend to be higher in calories and contain fewer vitamins and minerals.

Focus on the outermost aisles of the supermarket

The external aisles of supermarkets are usually those where the freshest and least processed foods are sold, such as fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy products and fish.

Try to get more foods in these aisles rather than the central ones, where more refined foods are concentrated.

Choose seasonal products

La seasonal fruits and vegetables are generally more nutritious, tasty and cheaper compared to off-season foods; this makes them a great choice for your healthful diet.

Choose colorful foods

Try to fill your plates with colored foods; this aids in calorie management and ensures the consumption of a wide range of vitamins and minerals.

The shopping cart must coincide with this tip, so always buy colorful fruit and vegetables at the supermarket.

Do you have little time to cook, but still want to follow a fit diet?

Stock up on frozen fruits and vegetables

If you don't have enough time to stock up on fruit and vegetables every 2-3 days, never run out of frozen fruit and vegetables in your freezer.

These are packaged without sugary syrups and still maintain a good nutritional value compared to their fresh counterparts.

Broaden your fitness shopping horizons
