CrossFit® Open 20.5: Analysis of the final

And also this year the Open is over. As we have seen, the 20.5 final WOD it was a hat trick of muscle up, wall balls and ROW.

For the first time in the history of Open there were no i thruster in the final. We saw some thrusters but in the dumbbell version in the 20.2. A skill that stayed out this time was the chest-to-bar pull-ups as a Rx'd move.

Have you missed them? But also no.

However, it was a very different final: the athletes were allowed to split the 20.5 reps at their leisure. This is a novelty that helped those who wanted to do it in RX mode. Muscle ups is a type of exercise to do when you are less tired, with the ability to stop and resume later; this gave more charge, obviously within the 20 min time cap.

WE SEE THE PERFORMANCE OF 20.5 IN THE WORLD:

There have been many more athletes in this workout a finish in maximum time compared to other weeks. Looking at the first 20 countries for participation, we divided the scores into four groups: scaled, no muscle ups, some muscle ups and finished.

Among the top 10 countries, Spain had the highest percentage of athletes who finished training (17%) and the highest percentage of athletes with at least some muscle ups (51%).

20.5 PROBABLE WINNERS

Pat Vellner and Sara Sigmundsdottir are at the top of the charts after the end of the 2020 CrossFit® Open.

Repeating last year's feat, Sara Sigmundsdottir once again earned the first place, winning his second Open in a row and the third in total.

This is the best placement in the Open for Pat Vellner, given that his previous best result was an 5 ° place in the 2018.

If the scores remain like this, Canada will win both the first and second place in the standings for men, while for women it will be Iceland.

However, the official results of the winners of the WOD 20-3, 20.4 and 20.5 still have to come out. The final classification will be established no later than December 16, when CrossFit HQ will have completed the video review process.

Once all the best scores have been confirmed, the National Champions and the top 20 will be announced (excluding the national champions). These athletes will receive an invitation to CrossFit Games.
