Brandon Tucker breaks the muscle up world record in 24 hours

Brandon Tucker is no stranger to challenges, in fact, the former Army Ranger established the Guinness World Record for most pull-ups in 24 hours on October 26, 2019 with an astonishing 7.715 repetitions.

A few weeks ago, exactly on January 31, 2022, Tucker set a second world record, this time for muscle-ups!

Who is Brandon Tucker

Tucker served nearly eight years in the 3rd Battalion, 7th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Unfortunately, in 2018, he was diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis, which caused him to withdraw from the military for medical reasons.

“I suffered a lot, I didn't want to go out. I really liked what I was doing, I loved being a Ranger ", Tucker told the American Military News.

“I just lost my mother. Now I am losing my military career. I got out of the army, about four months later, got divorced. . . I felt like I couldn't win anything anymore; I was at a point in my life where I felt like a failure. "

Following these difficult life challenges, Tucker turned to fitness and self-help books for the force. One book in particular had a big impact on him: "Can't Hurt Me," by retired Navy SEAL David Goggins.

Goggins held the world pull-up record and his story inspired Tucker to try to break some records too:

“When I started training for the pull up, I had a goal to look forward to every day; it gave me something to work on“, He recalled.

Additionally, Tucker has become a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach in his pursuit of purpose after the military.

The muscle up world record

On October 29, 2021, the Spanish Alejandro Soler Tarí set the muscle up world record at 1.256. Being an avid, Tucker was not satisfied that he had barely reached that number.

“I was confident that I could do 1.256 reps, but I'm definitely not going to stop if I hit 1.257. I want to see if I can resist for all 24 hours ”.

More than a world record, Tucker also wanted raise awareness among veterans, like him, who are struggling with their transition from the military.

Tucker's muscle up world record attempt took place at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus, Ohio, and coincided with the start of the Patriot Challenge fitness fundraiser.

The event raised awareness for the challenges facing veterans in transition and raised funds for organizations that help veterans through this process.

In the past, Tucker himself helped raise money for the Warrior's Heart Foundation, a nonprofit that supports veterans struggling with addiction, chemical addictions, post-traumatic stress disorder, and head trauma.

Between January 30 and 31, Tucker made 1.300 muscle-ups and set the new Guinness World Record.

He's not done yet: "I want to break more records," said Tucker. "I told myself I won't be happy until I'm five."
