THE TIPS OF MATTEO POZZATI

This time to give us a precious vision inside the WOD is with us Matteo Pozzati, deus ex machina of CrossFit® Italy e coach Level 3: in short, competence and experience for an overview and a very available person to whom we thank for having lent us his time.

A WOD went to the archives, now there is the second: a first impression on these Open?

The impression is more than positive.

Making two Open events in a year, due to the change of the calendar, maybe there was a drop in registrations but we expected it.

On the other hand, media and social involvement was much more than last year.

Surely it is to be attributed to the fact that this year the Open is more customizable than ever, with customizable logos and rankings and all around. Every country, with country managers, dedicated jerseys and everything else has given a great response.

As for the first 2 WODs they are hard and pure CrossFit®. Simple but conclusive movements. Dave Castro don't miss the shot.

Can the Open really be used also for athletes who do not have the goal of qualifying for the Games?

Absolutely yes! It is especially for those who do not go to the Games. The goal of the Open is to create a Community where there is the maximum expression of the values of the CrossFit® methodology.

The community is what really matters, if someone lets this opportunity slip in his box there is something wrong or did not understand anything about the CrossFit®.  Without community we would simply be a fitness program like many others.

This 2 ° WOD: what pitfalls does it hide? What kind of athlete do you think can be favored?

Here the pitfalls remain in pacing. If one misses the pace it will hardly make a decent performance.

You could do it several times but if one is not an athlete from Games you will probably opt for one shot-one kill because you have to know each other well.

Definitely the lightest and most simple athlete. Not too much else because he can use short levers in both Thrusters and Toe-to-bars.

It must be that athlete who is generally oriented towards a competence more focused on endurance and stamina, relative to the gesture obviously.

The Open is a test so in the WOD of the Open you need to perform what you have in your arsenal and not what you want to have.

Therefore, the bigger athlete is certainly more disadvantaged, also because the load of weightlifting it is relatively low and the repetitions are also few. While the classic gymnastics, the classic endurance athlete will be more advantaged.

What is the best way to do it?

The advice is to choose the time to execute it, give yourself the rhythm according to the previous performances.

Awareness because you haven't changed since the previous day, overnight.

The key point is the series of Toe-to-bar because they are a movement that, like others, I think of handstand, once one is cooked it is difficult to continue.

The goal would be to make two sets of three, maybe, because if you start making 6 unbroken in the first series but then you break them one by one it's worse.

We need to evaluate our own measure. Be aware, start with a well-measured rhythm and move as cleanly as possible because it makes the difference.

More generally: what are the goals of CrossFit Italia for this year and for the future?

They remain the same since CrossFit® Italia was created.

First and foremost support for Italian affiliates at 360 °, in every respect.

A de facto customer service, therefore all that concerns the management of deadlines, invoices, changes of address that we manage daily by email and telephone.

Then the communication, and it's the reason that led us to open the channel CrossFit® Italy on YouTube.

Communicate as much as possible and especially in Italian, so that all box owners and affiliates can be updated and have the same right as all other affiliates in the world who speak English and have communications in their mother tongue.

A third goal, the biggest one, and it is the defense: all we are doing with the legal department to defend the affiliates from those who use the trademark without having the right and from those who try to take advantage of it or tarnish the name of the CrossFit ® belonging to other realities.

Soon there will be updates on this.

The willingness to go to YouTube to show WODs and movements: why is it so important?

It is important because the information, as for the Training Aid and the LV1 and LV2 manuals, must be available and usable in your own language. The language must not be a barrier.

On YouTube we went there for many reasons, one of these is to give directions and give the opportunity to see videos with descriptions and explanations in Italian of the exercises and movements.

But the decision was taken precisely with a view to providing support and giving visibility to affiliates throughout Italy.

We just have to wait for the announcement of the 3rd WOD, a turning point that could reshuffle the cards of the skills in play: and you just have to stay tuned to our Facebook page.
