CrossFit® Open: Released 21.1

S2021 season of the Open has officially begun!

Yes, dear CrossFitters, the wait is over! On Friday the first wod of the event that will bring some of the best athletes in the world to the next NoBull CrossFit® Games.

We have been talking only about this for months and now, after the release of the exercises, even more. It must be said that many were disappointed with the skills chosen for this first wod… it seems trivial but it is harder than you think.

The announcement of 21.1

For the official presentation we had the athletes Kristi Eramo O'Connell and Kari Pearce. Basically, for this first stage, all you will need is a rope and a wall.

Easy, right? Well, No.

The participant will face a long sequence of two movements such as Double Under and… the novelty of this edition, i Wall Walk, normally used as a prerequisite for the Handstand o HSPU.

However, for those who still believe it will be easy, we warn you: training is in gradual growth, ending with 21 Wall Walk and 210 Double Unders!

It must be said that this wod is very far from the majestic training of other editions of the Games, but it is really challenging and will take the athletes to the limit.

Those who have followed the broadcast will have seen the very tried athletes at the time cap. There was a dispute between Kari Pearce and Kristi Eramo O'Connel, where Kari got the better of it.

An Open 21.1 for everyone?

There has been much discussion about the fact that this year the Open would have been very inclusive and truly within everyone's reach. After the official presentation, there was the presentation of the other categories, to give chinuque the opportunity to perform it.

CROSSMAG TIPS

The Wod 21.1 works mainly the shoulder and calves thanks to the Wall Walk and Double-unders.

The athlete will have to pay close attention to the activation of the abdomen in order not to overload the lower back in the wall walk and thus obtain better control of the body in the movement. This will be a differentiating factor for athletes.

In WOD care must be taken so that the increase in heart rate does not compromise the subsequent series of Wall Walks, because as the heart activity increases, it becomes more difficult to stabilize the center of the body, making subsequent movement on the wall more difficult.

The important thing in this workout is to perform movements carefully to avoid extreme fatigue. Athletes can split the series of wall walks to not lose body activation and improve movement efficiency.

This was the first WOD of the three to be released. You have until tonight to publish the result, please! Let us know how it's going 😉
