Dubai CrossFit® Championship 2019: how did it go?

Dubai CrossFit® Championship

From 11 to 14 December, in Dubai - a land that at first glance you would not go to connect to sports where you sweat a lot.

Too hot. Too many Mercedes in the desert (as comfortable).

And instead

The Dubai CrossFit® Championship is the first event sanctioned for the 2020 Games qualification.

Let's see who took the throne home.

The Dubai CrossFit® Championship podium

Women:

1. Sara Sigmundsdottir 🇮🇸
2. Karin Frey 🇸🇰
3. Samantha Briggs 🇬🇧

Men:
1. Brent Fikowski 🇨🇦
2. Pat Vellner
3. Roman Khrennikov 🇷🇺

Teams:
1. MisFit M10 Performance
2. We Got Cake
3. Team Prepared

For women: the best comes from the cold

Sara Sigmundsdottir outperforms the opponents, and earns first place in a series of events. It does with a smile on his face for the duration of the events.

And so he becomes the athlete with the largest number of sanctions won - three.

turning point of the Dubai CrossFit® Championship for you?

Thursday. Samantha Briggs holds first place, and only one event is missing: the "workout four", Max Clean and Jerk. Sara not only won the test, she added his personal best with 112 kg.

The feeling he describes of having tried, several times during the four days of competitions, was what all things were turning in his favor.

Men: confidence overseas

For boys, the Canadian Brent Fikowski crosses Roman Khrennikov on the last day. And to think that Brent had placed 23rd in the 2019 Games. Not an excellent proof.

A revenge towards that position? No. The athlete said that it was more of a declaration for himself. Mentally he felt good, so he knew he could improve things. Her confidence it solidified during the four days of tests, and Brent said he knew that as soon as he arrived in the podium in an event, this would give him an additional inner boost.

Obviously you want to win, but it's still a largely out of control thing.

To read some interviews, it is clear that for the athlete the last year had been mentally stressful, full of negative voices in the head, but this was the right opportunity for go back to being himself again, competing big, showing what you are capable of doing.

Fikowski has won 2 of the only events, took two second places and two thirds.

One of the key moments of his performance was Saturday's first event.

Teamwork?

The Dubai CrossFit® Championship for teams take it home Misfit P10 Performance, a "new" team, consisting of athletes who won the 2019 Games and that, as they say, they found themselves quite wellafter party of that event.

A demonstration that the "shots" made during the holidays can have consequences for once very positive?
