Eric Roza announces major changes in CrossFit®

Last week, in a podcast interview Talking Elite Fitness, CrossFit® CEO Eric Roza addressed several points relevant to the upcoming season of the CrossFit® Games, such as the inclusion of categories adaptive, a possible new stage for national and post Open champions, sponsors and sanctioned events.

Let's say that, after the various problems for the Glassman's tacky tweet, the company has undergone various changes. Some negatives, like the loss of many partnerships , sale of the brand to Eric Roza.

Since then there have been many new features, such as a scholarship program and new formats for all races. For next year, however, other changes are expected to develop over the course of the podcast. Let's see them in detail:

Adaptive athletes

For starters, Eric has announced that he will create more categories and divisions among athletes.

We will have more competition formats during the CrossFit® Games season and, to our surprise and happiness, the division of adaptive athletes!

The new CEO reiterated that there will be constant changes to make our sport more inclusive.

This is a project that is still under development. Seeing as there are many categories of adaptive athletes, Eric points out that he doesn't guarantee he'll get the right result right away, but will always look for the right direction.

CrossFit® in universities

This topic was also addressed during the interview. Roza talked about implementing a sports program in universities; this would allow students to evaluate themselves, from a competitive point of view, comparing themselves with teammates and coaches.

New stages of classification for the Games

A doubt that came to everyone's mind was how the next races would develop.

On the occasion, Roza said they will be created new steps, during and out of season, which will contribute to increase the competitive fervor of the community, as of Regional competitions specifications for national samples.

There is also talk of creating an additional post Open phase, to decrease the total number of athletes at the Games.

What will the Sanctionals be like?

Roza prefers to treat them as "partner events”And promises to help them even more next season with high quality media, facilities and sponsors. We'll see…

With the end of the Reebok contract, what about the sponsorship?

As for the sponsors, Eric said it is likely that we will have a master sponsors for the 2021 Games.

This may not necessarily be a shoe company. Roza commented that there are many brands interested. At the same time, he said competing brands can coexist as event sponsors.

“I think the great partners will bring more money and credibility to the sport and create new opportunities, not only for CrossFit® itself or for the professional athletes who make a living from this competition, but also for the affiliates, the members of the academy. , people who become CrossFit® coaches and so on; everyone will benefit from the partnerships we promote ”he concluded.
