In recent days, the first "CrossFit® Community Town Hall", a kind of interview to the new one CrossFit® Inc CEO, Eric Roza. The questions, read by Nicole Carrol, were all about doubts that the many affiliates still had and needed an answer, mainly about the events Open and the Sanctionals.
If nothing else, we were looking forward to answers about Games 2020, especially on how the competitions would have taken place given that the Covid-19 pandemic in the EUA seems to never end. All these issues have been addressed and answered by Eric and we bring them all back to you!
A preview: to our delight (and surprise!) the Open are confirmed and will be done very soon! We talk about February / March 2021, top right?

THE OPEN
For those who do not remember the Open is a qualifying round which, after the latest changes made to the rules of the Games, gives the right one elite male and one female athlete (worldwide) to participate in the event.
The announcement of the future performance will be a further incentive to participate in the tender next year. This news comes at a time when several boxes in various parts of the world are reopening.
Games director Dave Castro also made the official announcement on his Instagram account,
It reads in Castro's post:
"It was announced today that the @crossfitgames Open will be officially held in February, as per tradition", in his Instagram account.
A few hours after the post, there were already countless positive comments and thousands of likes.
However, the news is worth keeping an eye on, because an increase in the covid-19 contagion curve could change the Opens too!
THE SANCTIONALS
However, regarding the regional competitions, Roza says the idea is that of maintain Sanctionals events, also because there does not seem to be a consensus on a better alternative.
According to Eric, it is interesting that these competitions are developed in partnership and says there will be greater collaboration and integration between both athletes and event organizers.
INSTEAD THE GAMES OF THIS YEAR?
In one of the latest updates on the 2020 Games, we pointed out that there was not yet a definite date but that they would develop in two stages. One in September to the other a few weeks later.
Eric again reiterated that, for now, there is no definite date.
But he wants it to be a safe race for all participants, mainly for phase two that will be present. There are still many doubts about the movements and closure of the borders of many states in America.
NEWS COMING SOON?
A new thing emerged in the chat. The new CEO has a goal for 2021: he wants the Open to have 500.000 subscribers. Do you think this will be possible?
