How the new CrossFit ® World Rankings work for the new season

New for the 2023 season: CrossFit ® will implement a worldwide ranking system for athletes who compete as an individual, through a world leaderboard.

All athletes who participated in the quarterfinals in 2022 will be included in the aforementioned world rankings, which was published before the start of the Open 2023.

These updated leaderboards will be published periodically throughout the year for all athletes who will qualify and participate in the 2023 quarter-finals (men's and women's individual division).

How are an athlete's CrossFit ® World Rankings determined?

To determine the world ranking of an athlete, points are awarded for the previous two years of competitive results in the four phases of the CrossFit® Games season (Open, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Games).

Athletes who accumulate more points will be ranked higher than athletes with fewer points. As the season progresses, the calculation window will scroll so that the ranking is always based on the data of the last two years of competitions.

In short: the two years of competitive experience serve as an overview of the state of form of an athlete.

What is the CrossFit ® World Rankings?

After the 2023 quarterfinals close, the scores will be updated, deleting the scores from the 2021 Open and quarterfinals and adding new scores from the 2023 Open and quarterfinals.

Any subsequent publication of the world rankings will follow the same format, using only the results from the most recent two years of the season.

The CrossFit® World Rankings will be updated:

How do you get scores?

Points for the Open and quarterfinals will be awarded based on the athlete's finishing percentile.

QUARTER FINALS

During the quarterfinals, the athletes will receive points based on their world percentile x 20. There are 2.000 points available for the top male and female athletes (worldwide) and the scores roll down from that point: 1.980 points for the 99th percentile, 1.960 for the 98th percentile, and so on.

Once the season progresses to in-person events (Semifinals and Games), points are awarded based on your final standings.
