Jasmine Ghilardi: 6 ° RX Women interview at CrossFit French Throwdown 2019

With very few years of experience, this girl from Bergamo of 21 years, who calls herself "a crazy little head”Has managed to place itself at the 6 ° RX Women place CrossFit French Thwrowdown 2019. In addition to being a great athlete, she has well-defined dreams: she wants to work with children and open her own kindergarten.

In the midst of her many commitments, she managed to dedicate some time to us, to do this beautiful interview, where all her love for what she does emerges, showing that really wanting is power!

Let's start with the basics, how has CrossFit come into your life and how long have you been practicing it?

CrossFit came into my life two and a half years ago. I practiced ballet for 11 years and then swam and ran to keep fit. In the summer of 2016, I was on vacation and talking to some sportsmen, they started talking to me about this sport; I, intrigued, asked for an explanation on how it worked. In September, I did my first test at CrossFit Bergamo, it was love at first sight. I started practicing it 2 / 3 times a week until I get to train every day after university.

Which box are you and who is your coach?

In February 2017 I moved to the box that today is called CrossFit Reborn Tower and I began to follow a slightly more specific programming of the garage for the preparation for the races. Then in October 2018 I joined the team Max Effort System, managed and represented by the coach Benedetto Salvo. It was not easy to change my way of training and follow a detailed and very substantial schedule, given that until recently I was following a box schedule. Today I am happy to have made this change, yes it is difficult to manage everything but I believe that wanting is power.

Very true, but not much is known about your past. Can you tell us a little about your crossfit background?

My first race was a pit race, after which I started thinking about trying other types too, the first was the East Coast Challenge in Junior category, of which I arrived earlier after not even a year of crossfit. Then I did a team, i "The South Mayhem 2017", classifying us second or third. Next, there were the Fall Series Junior, where I arrived 6 ° and theItalian Box Battle with a team from my Reborn box.

After this race I wanted to try to get in the game, I tried the qualifications of French Throwdown in Intermediate category and ended the race with a fourth position. In October 2018 made the Battle of Milan, my first RX race ending in a fifth position.

After all these amazing results, you left for the French Throwdown with what expectations?

The expectations of the French were high, I wanted to give my best as I try to do in all races. I gave my best in every workout, even dying [laughs]. I have had a good growth in these months, I have worked on every single aspect both physical and mental. I have worked a lot on my difficulties. When the official French wods came out, my coach let me try all the workouts and we worked on how to best manage them. The two weeks before I felt a lot because the closer the days came, the more anxiety I got [laughs]. However, I had a crazy desire to go to the race especially in an event like the French, already experienced the year before but this year in the RX category. This was the best race to date.

And how did you prepare yourself in the weeks leading up to the French Throwdown? Arriving 6 ° RX WOMEN is a great achievement….

They have been intense days. In the months before my coach Benedetto Salvo has prepared targeted programming for me. In addition to preparing for university and work exams, in the evening I locked myself in the garage to be able to prepare myself in the best possible way. These moments were less heavy thanks also to my team mates (Zenoni, Marianna Caspiati, Elisa Mariani, Matteo Falgari and Ivan) who allowed me to push harder.

I believe that the beauty of crossfit is also this, being part of a unique team that pushes and confronts. Twice a week or more I go to train my coach's box a Crossfit Adamantio and I also train at my friend's garage a Crossfit Reborn Almè. I train every day, from two to three hours a day, except for Sunday, which is my rest day.

Can you tell us how you lived the experience in France? How were WODs?

The French are pure and true CrossFit, the athletes are all "equal", the environment is beautiful, the organization is perfect and the atmosphere is Games style and this is the best thing. On the match field, whoever finishes first encourages his opponents not to give up and often these things are not seen.

During this race weekend my coach followed my diet in detail, before each workout he gave me a specific warm-up so that I could prepare for the event I had to face. Between one WOD and another I rested and ate to recharge myself. Today I can say that all the workouts have been beautiful.

Was there any event where you thought you wouldn't make it?

What I feared the most was event 1 with running, paddling and more running, but it ended up being good. The only one I knew that wasn't going to be great was the ceiling of Snatch , because I still have a lot to improve on the weights. The event that went the worst was the For time, where I had to complete 50 Cal Bikes and 50 double swings, I didn't struggle on the bike but on the swings I did, because I didn't execute the movement well and this caused me a bit of no rep.

And in which have you had better results?

The WOD that went best was the 7 which was the last one I did, I felt it very much mine. The thing that I regretted was not being able to make the final and in fact a tear fell on me, but that's okay. I know I gave my best, now head down and continue to work on the next goal to be achieved.

I know you do a thousand other activities, what are your typical days like?

In life I am not only an athlete but I am also a university student at the University of Bergamo and I study educational sciences to become a children's educator.

My typical days are: university, study, training and at weekends I also work in a bar and sometimes even during the week. There are so many sacrifices but I believe that if you want to do something, you are very stubborn, that's not why I'm Capricorn [laughs]. I am a very down to earth person, I like life and as well as dedicating myself to all this, I love being with my friends and my friends. For me social life is important, because it helps you to get away from the routine and I have the good fortune to have friends who stand by me and stand me.

Jasmine, we thank you very much for giving us your time, to conclude, can you tell us about your next goals?

I am preparing the thesis and the last exams to give in the university and sportingly speaking I have some goals but let's see what the future holds for me. I'm always ready to get involved and never give up. Speaking of races, I'd like to try the German Throwdowns. In addition to this, the Fall Series, however, to be honest I have not yet decided my race calendar well, but I will certainly want to challenge myself a lot.

One thing I would like to emphasize is that my passion for sport was passed on to me by my father who ran for many years. To date, in fact, I always thank him for sending me the love of sport.
