Mal O'Brien breaks reps record in 22.1 practice of the Open

Mal O'Brien, Rookie of the Year 2021 of the CrossFit® Games, was ranked the official winner of CrossFit® Open 22.1 training, after registering a an astonishing score of 392 reps, the highest of anyone else in the world.

Who is Mal O'Brien?

THE18 year old athlete comes from the United States and began training under the watchful eye of the five times fitter man on Earth, Mat Fraser, after the 2021 CrossFit® Games.

She competed at the CrossFit® Games in the Girls (14-15) division in 2018 and 2019, finishing 4th and 5th respectively.

Despite still being eligible to compete in the Teenage division in 2021, O'Brien decided to compete in the Individuals division instead.

È finished 5th at the World Open, 3rd at the North American quarter-finals, 2nd at the Granite Games semifinal and 7th at the CrossFit® Games that year.

She also became the youngest athlete to ever win a CrossFit® Games individual event and was named Rookie of the Year.
