Open 23.1 let's get to know the athletes: men's division

The elite male individual athletes who will compete in training Open 23.1 are the eighth and ninth Fittest Men on Earth®: Lazar Đukić and Bjorgvin Karl Guðmundsson.

Đukić has two participations in the CrossFit® Games. He finished 9th on his debut in 2021 and 8th in 2022.

Guðmundsson has been a mainstay of the Games since 2014. In his nine starts, he only finished outside the top 10 once, and that was, in his debut, when he finished 26th. He also finished 32nd in the 2022 World Open and 5th in Europe.

Đukić was far behind in both scores: 273rd in the world in the Open 2022 and 91st in Europe. The gap between the two has narrowed Quarterfinals of 2022, when Guðmundsson placed first in Europe and Đukić third.

Al LowlandsInstead, Đukić took first place and Guðmundsson second! In short, between the two there is a really fierce battle!

Admittedly Guðmundsson has been the predominant European male CrossFitter alongside Jonne Koski for the better part of the last decade, but Đukić is on the rise and this bout will definitely be one to watch.

Open 23.1 let's get to know the athletes: women's division

Laura Horvath had a stellar 2022 CrossFit® season. Yes is classified third at the 2022 CrossFit® Games, behind six-time champion Tia-Clair Toomey and runner-up Mal O'Brien.

More, Horvath won the Rogue Invitational 2022. In her five participations at the Games, she finished on the podium three times: second in 2018 and 2021, third in 2022.

Gabi Migała, on the other hand, has finished in the top 8 at the Games for the past two seasons, finishing sixth in 2021 and eighth in 2022.

In '2022 World Open surpassed Horvath by 90 places: Migała was 13th in the overall standings and fifth in Europe, while Horvath was 103rd in the world standings and 34th in Europe.

The two athletes have fought for the top step of the podium at the 2022 CrossFit® Lowland Throwdown, but Laura Horvath prevailed, while Migała took home the bronze.

With Toomey who will not participate in the 2023 season because pregnant with her first child, according to community that follows us, Horvath and O'Brien are the main contenders for the throne. However, Migała has posed a threat to victory in every race Horvarth has entered in recent seasons…

Who knows… maybe 2023 could be his year to hit the mark, right?
