We know, theOpen 2020 has begun and has already made its victims. Definitely a hard WOD, but that Rich Froning and Scott Panchik closed in less than 10 minutes. There are many athletes who have tried the 20.1, with the exception of Manila Pennacchio (one of my favorites!), disqualified from the last Italian Showdown.
A real shame, because Manila is a big name in Italian CrossFit® and personally I miss seeing her participate in the Open this year ...
And, in this moment of sharing and fun, unfortunately we have heard of other cases of athletes banned from 2020 Games for doping.
The tests were carried out during the last CrossFit® Games 2019 and the results were made public a few days ago, with the imminent announcement of the workout 20.1 of the Open. Perhaps it will serve as a warning for all those who decide to participate in the upcoming competitions: there are no shortcuts.
As we have said many times, CrossFit® reflects the ideals of respect e sharing of goals common. We are taught the discipline , Resilience and those who behave in a dishonest way are bound to pay high consequences: 4 years without being able to participate in the next competitions.
But let's find out more about the 7 banned athletes of official CrossFit® competitions:
- Katie Trombetta
- Franky Wood
- Achilleas Pantazis
- Anna Fragkou
- Hylie Thompson
- Mauro Acevedo
- Juan Sforzini

OTHER CURIOSITIES ABOUT
All the athletes took additional time to prepare their defenses after the results.
Pantazis received a reduced penalty because he responded positively and cooperated throughout the process: he provided a list of his supplements and purchase receipts.
Further analysis of the tests showed that his pre workout supplement contained a prohibited substance. That is why the punishment has been reduced.
