In the beating heart of Versilia, under the sun caressing the Marina di Pietrasanta pier, one of the most anticipated events of the year is preparing to return: the Pietrasanta Beach Throwdown 2024.
This year, on April 20th and 21st, we celebrate twelfth edition of a competition that has earned a place of honor in the hearts of fitness and CrossFit® enthusiasts, attracting nearly 800 athletes from every corner of the country and beyond.

The Challenge is renewed: Qualifications in the name of Excellence
The road to the sandy arena was anything but easy. The athletes had to prove their worth by tackling two qualifying WODs of notable intensity.
The first, announced with us live from the CrossFit® Pietrasanta box in January, put the competitors to the test with a circuit of 3 minutes on and 1 minute and 30 seconds off for 3 rounds, which included:
- 30 wall ball, 15 toes to bar, 50 double unders and max cal row
The second WOD, divided into two parts, required:
- Part A: Searching for the RM of hang clean & jerk and part B: an explosive mix of 40 bar facing burpees, 40 hang clean & jerks, followed by another 40 bar facing burpees.
But it wasn't all sweat and hassle: the winners of the qualifiers earned a personalized jump rope from their friends at Box Factory Lab, in recognition of their efforts in this tough qualifier.
Live Phase: 400 Athletes, One Stage
This year, approximately 400 athletes will compete on the sand, with the sea as the backdrop to an unprecedented competition.
Divided into categories that they range from elite to teenagers, through regular, experience and various master levels, the participants will give life to a show of force, agility and strategy, under the eyes of an enthusiastic crowd.
The Expectations of the Organizers Iacopo and Nicola
Iacopo di Ronza and Nicola Ercolini, the minds behind the event, express their enthusiasm and expectations for this edition.
Iacopo underlined the importance of “overcoming one's limits in a unique and stimulating context”, while Ercolini aims “on the energy and passion that each athlete brings to the competition, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone."

In exclusive preview, the organizers have entrusted us with the task of revealing a spoiler: a mysterious tool will be used in one of the workouts of the competition.
