Rogue Invitational 2022 Recap: Everything That Happened and Winners

We just left another one behind exciting and intense race weekend, it was 4 days of exciting workouts (and also innovative!), which sometimes made us smile.

This year the Rogue Invitational started a day earlier with a surprise race, revealed only after the athletes have checked in:

This first event was a mountain running, with some workouts to do along the way. For the female category, we had the victory for Danielle Brandon, while for the men it was Jason Hopper who prevailed.

However, this was only the first in a series of workouts that challenged all athletes during the competition, with new or old movements with relative adaptations.  For example: the bar for muscle up has been replaced with a trunk (log bar) where athletes could not close their hands to perform the movement, a clean & jerk differentiated using the tool Strongman, the inclusion of a steep slope during testing, etc.

Rogue Invitational 2022: female category recap

In the women's category it was interesting to see the athletes compete to figure out who would win the top step on the podium.

With theabsence of Tia Clair Toomey, the competition at Rogue Invitational 2022 has become more intense and exciting, por since it was not known who could emerge at the head of the race.

At the end of the first day, we had Danielle Brandon in the lead, but the lack of good results in subsequent training made her fall in the standings. On the other partand, Laura Horvath, who didn't start very well, had an excellent one recovery and, without Tia and Mallory O'Brien in front of her, ended up excelling and winning the Rogue Invitational 2022 by taking home four of the ten races in the competition.

We also had the return of Annie Thorisdottir, who competed in the individual category after participating as a Team at the Games.

Annie is back with force and narrowly missed out on victory. However, Laura Horvart's four victories have made it difficult for anyone to approach the top of the leaderboard.

Although the Thorisdottir did not win any WODs, the consistency of the good results guaranteed her a second place on the podium.

In third place we have Emma Lawson, who had a great race but not consistent with results. With two victories in practice, she finished behind Annie, securing third place.

In fact, it was these two victories that determined the playoff between her and Ellie Turner, as they both finished Rogue with 670 points.

Rogue Invitational 2022: men's category recap

As for the male category, it seems that a new phenomenon may enter history. After Mat Fraser's exit from competitions, Justin Medeiros seems to have forcefully replaced his compatriot.

After all, ever since Mat hung up his Metcons, Medeiros has put his Nobull on his foot and has not stopped winning the big competitions. Although not with the greatness of Mat, but with an absurd quality of results.

Again Justin scored the Games and Rogue double, taking the podium for the second time in the event and year.

This time at Rogue, the champion managed to win two races in first place that allowed him to win the competition. But it wasn't easy, given that runner-up Chandler Smith was just 15 points behind.

With just 5 points behind, we have Adler followed by Vellener, who finished the competition in 4th place.

Three other athletes who surprised with negative results were the Russian Roman Khrennikov, the Australian Ricky Garard and the Serbian Lazar Djukic. The top two performed well at this year's Games and fought training after training with Medeiros for first place.

But this time they were totally apathetic in the competition. Finishing respectively with the fifth place for Roman and the tenth for Garard.

Lazar Djukic instead, injured his ankle at the first event while running, but announced not to abandon the competition.

He fought to the end, even though we saw him in great pain; he finished the competition in last place!
