Sara Sigmundsdottir is out of the NoBull CrossFit® Games 2021

In this last year, CrossFit® has undergone many changes… The latest news is the new sponsorship of NoBull for the next Games e the start of the Open, which will allow the best athletes to enter the competition.

Unfortunately, however, there is not only good news. The Icelandic athlete Sara Sigmundsdottir is out of the competition for the next CrossFit® Games 2021. The news was announced on his Instagram profile these days.

The reason? There appears to have been a accident during a training session.

The words of Sara Sigmundsdottir

“I felt a snap in my knee during one Split jerk and I immediately went for an MRI. The results showed a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament, ”he said on his profile.

The injury that the athlete reports concerns the rupture of the cruciate ligament of the knee; with this type of injury, there is a long way to go ...

After the ligament reconstruction surgery, she will need to do a long recovery period and physiotherapy, to readjust the muscles.

It must be said that Sara is very positive about her recovery:

"Knowing that this type of injury can be 100% cured gives me all the reasons to be positive and the will to come back stronger is already present", Sara Sigmundsdottir pointed out.

The departure of the Icelandic athlete is, without a doubt, a big loss for the next Games. Sara is one of the big names in international CrossFit® and has already made a lot of history within the competition.

Sara Sigmundsdottir's injuries

This is not the first time that Sara suffers an injury and leaves the Games. To be exact, this will be the third time that the athlete will not participate in the world competition.

However, her positive outlook on life and the events that happen to her deserve to be highlighted. She he never gave up faced with a difficulty and always has shared his victories (and even defeats) with his supporters.

Here is the translated post:

“I experienced my biggest nightmare earlier this week when I injured my knee during training. I felt a pull in my knee during a split jerk and immediately went for an MRI. The results showed a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.

I am still realizing that this really happened and that I will not be taking part in the 2021 season of the CrossFit® Games. This recovery process requires upcoming surgery and then months of rehabilitation. As the timeline becomes clearer I will share an update on what it will look like.

I am so grateful for the support I have received from my team and sponsors. Then, of course, from all of you who have supported me for better or for worse and have been my biggest motivation since I started this sport. Knowing that you can recover 100% from this type of injury gives me all the reasons to be positive and the desire to be more energized than ever is already present.

This is my challenge now. Challenge accepted🤝 "
