SouthFit CrossFit® Challenge

Also this weekend of the 6-7-8 December, the biggest Latin American CrossFit® event took place: the SouthFit Challenge.

From the DirectTV Arena a Buenos Aires, Argentina), were states 3 days full of excitement and sweat in search of the infamous 2020 Games invitations.

About 750 athletes from around the world have made an appointment to test all the physical abilities recognized in human beings.

There have been 7 events before the final and the last day was really decisive for composing the ranking and defining the winners.

THE FINAL

The final race day of the SouthFit CrossFit® Challenge was action-packed and full of drama, as both teams and individual men only made up their minds at the last minute.

As for women, it was anticipated that Bethany Shadburne e Maddie Sturt they would have fought all weekend for first place on the podium. And so it was.

TEAM

Team Odd Squad dominated the second day until the last day of competition securing his invitation to the 2020 Games. The team of Alexis Johnson, Emily Tanner, Jordan Cook and Brandon Luckett finished 26 seconds ahead of the Argentine team Q21 to obtain the victory of the event. Day 3 leaders, Team Invictus, finished in third place.

Shadburne vs. Sturt

The worst finish for both women was the 1RM event Snatch. Shadburne finished 10th, while Sturt finished 17th.

In the rest of the events, both women never came out of the top 4. Shadburne, however, had two event wins and finished just ahead of Sturt on almost everyone else.

The Shadburne closed the race with 765 points, winning the 1 absolute place. The Sturt finished with 723 points bringing home the 2 place.

Instead the winner of the first Sanctional event, the Filthy 150 (held from 22 to November 24 in Ireland), Andrea Solberg, went to Argentina to finish at the 3 place.

MEN

Shaw vs. Grove

The men's competition included two well-known Australian Games veterans: Rob Forte e Zeke Grove. The fight for first place on the podium, however, took place between another Australian, Jay Crouch and Canadian Peter Shaw.

After the first events on Friday, it was clear that it would be a tough fight between Shaw and Crouch. Grove started slowly with an 15 ° and an 8 ° place in the first two events and was unable to recover.

Argentine Gonzalo Duro climbed the podium in third position thanks to his consistent performances throughout the weekend.

But the battle over the Games invitation between Shaw and Crouch only ended at the final event. Crouch seemed to have the win in hand, but Shaw turned a deficit into a creepy win, just 12 points more than his rival.

Peter Shaw brought his invitation to the 2020 Games.
