Interview with Stefano Carosso, athlete who participated in CrossFit®French Throwdown 2018

We interviewed Stefano Carosso, best Italian Elite Men of the previous edition, and about that we asked him some questions.

Are you satisfied with the 13th place at the CrossFit®French Throwdown 2018?

Actually no, the year before I had finished with a fifth place, it was a “somewhat lucky” year for me. I arrived at the 2018 race with the idea of replicating or in any case of positioning myself in the top 10 but the level was certainly higher. I managed to stay in eleventh practically the whole race, but in the last workout I lost points.

What was the most difficult moment? How did you get over it?

French Throwdown was the first full three-day race I attended, from Friday morning to Sunday evening. The most difficult moment was on Sunday morning, I started to blame fatigue and I gave up a little. All hopes of returning to the first 10 vanished, I should have been worse.

Are you participating in the race this year? With what expectations?

This year I would like to participate in the race, I think it will be even more difficult, there will be big names participating and I would like to try to try to stay always in the first 10 and get to the final.

Compared to last year, what do you feel more / less strong in?

Compared to last year I definitely feel stronger, I have grown and matured. But as I grew up, all the other athletes also grew, the level of CrossFit rises year after year.

Do you know the pre-race rituals of a great CrossFit® French Throwdown athlete?

Stefano Carosso revealed some of his secrets that perhaps none of us could have imagined. Not real rituals bring good luck or anything like that, but habits "like using some customary pieces of clothing, I take it a little from basketball, for example I care a lot about "competition" socks and try to use them as amulets. Then of course I have my routine, I follow my diet and various things that I keep the same in every race but I wouldn't call it a real ritual ”.

And according to Carosso, what is CrossFit® French Throwdown?

"I think the French Throwdown is a very beautiful and very complete event, even for the its high level testant. They have also included long running and swimming so I like it a lot. It is one of the most exciting competitions I attended because you compete in front of an audience of many people, perhaps 5.000 in the stands. This makes you feel like a real athlete, excites you, at European level I consider it one of the most beautiful races and I will try to qualify at any cost.

Willy Georges, champion of the CrossFit® French Throwdown, undisputed athlete

They made us come goosebumps the words that Stefano Carosso used to define Willy Georges"absolutely a monster, we were expecting his victory even before starting the race. Last year he exploded as an athlete, going from being medium-strong to becoming an elite athlete. His performance was certainly impressive, he is the strongest athlete among all the best in Europe ”. It made us want to follow his races!

Thanks to Stefano Carosso and to his great enthusiasm, good luck!
