Strongman exercises in CrossFit ®

The discipline of Strongman it is a real return to the origins of force real; the exercises are very varied, different from each other and unconventional!

We have all seen men on television who they lift huge boulders or pull trains; to excel in this sport, one must not only be strong, but have technique and be able to adapt to all the tests that may be proposed.

The Strongman also finds space in CrossFit®, as Competitive CrossFit ® often uses crossfit exercises to challenge athletes; let's find out these exercises that the two sports have in common!

Strongman exercises in CrossFit ®

The sled (sled training)

The sled consists of a fairly easily gliding platform with two push rods and a space on which to place the load; it can be used in various ways, depending on the desired stimulus.

For this reason, one of the most used exercises in CrossFit® and Strongman it is the sled push and its analogous movement, the sled pull.

Although both of these exercises involve moving the resistance opposite to the athlete, it is the mechanics of their execution that differ.

Sled pull-ups are increasingly common in competitions; in pushing the sled, the body's strength is used to move it forward, in pulling the sled, however, the person pulls on a rope to drag and move the sled.

Reps count based on the meters that the sled has to travelusually in sets of 5 to 10.

 Yoke Carries

This type of lift consists of a platform with two outstretched legs, on which weights can be placed and a crossbar that is placed on the back; it's a exercise used not only to test strength, but also stability and speed.

The structure must be adequately leaning on the trapeze, although sometimes it is asked to carry it over the head, to increase the difficulty; the hands must be placed on the vertical bars and the back must be straight.

As you start walking, your balance becomes increasingly precarious; there The complexity of this movement goes beyond just the weight, because if you lose your position, you also lose control of the platform, making the forward fall much more dangerous.

Farmer's walk (farmer carry)

La farmer's walk, unlike the sled and yoke carriesdoes not require specific equipment; the goal is walking with straight arms carrying two barbells, but it can also be performed with dumbbells and kettlebells.

Although it is a simple movement in terms of execution, is a means of measuring the strength of pinch (made with three fingers) and of the heart, which must always remain active.

Some recommendations for athletes are di keep the chest out, do not hunch the back and use the hook grip, so that the arms, but especially the forearms, do not suffer too much.
