Lo Shaw Classic 22 started on Saturday 13th August in Loveland, CO e Oleksii Novikov, the strongest man in the world of 2020, has already set a world record. Lo Strongman Ukrainian, successfully pulled 549 kg (1210 lbs) in the Hummer Tire Deadlift, thus becoming without a doubt the new holder of the absolute world record.

The Incredible Raising of Oleksii Novikov

To help you with this lift, Novikov used size 8 lifting straps and a weight lifting belt; it's unclear if he wore a deadlift suit under his shirt and shorts.

For those unfamiliar with this variant of the deadlift,Hummer Tire Deadlift is a partial deadlift movement, which is seen almost exclusively in Strongman competitions.

The diameter of the tires and the deflection of the bar at mid-lift make it much more difficult. Novikov's attempt saw it pull 8 Hummer tires on the rocker; to this we must add another important factor that made the company extraordinary: the highest altitude in Colorado (Loveland is in fact 1520 meters above sea level).

Il Novikov's lifting broke the previous record, set by Canadian JF Caron, who pulled 545 kg (1202 lbs) to the 2020 Shaw Classic.

The Hummer Tire Deadlift was a standard event of the Arnold Strongman Classic, and Shaw Classic promoter and 4-time Strongest Man in the World, Brian Shaw, integrated it into all three editions of his eponymous show.

Novikov's world record was the last lift performed in the opening event of the Shaw Classic 2022; obviously Novikov won the event, albeit at the end of the competition he finished fourth in the standings, preceded by Mitchell Hooper, Brian Shaw and the winner Trey Mitchell.

Novikov recently took the win at Giant's Live 2022 STrongman Classic and in April he also won the title of strongest man in Europe 2022; he also competed in all three editions of the Shaw Classic, finishing third in 2020.

The Hummer Tire Deadlift is different from the Silver Dollar Deadlift, a partial deadlift with the barbell starting position on top of 18-inch blocks; the Estonian Strongman, Rauno Heinla, is the Silver Dollar Deadlift record holder. In fact, Heinla pulled 580 kg (1279 lbs) at the Strongest Man of Estonia 2022 competition.

Novikov also holds the record for the World's Strongest Man in the 18-inch deadlift with a whopping 538kg pull, set in 2020.

Let's say that beating 2022 for Novikov will be tough, but who knows what it will bring in the next competitions! Follow us to stay up to date and don't forget to follow us also on the telegram channel
