Fraser Supremacy - Toomey: Eric Roza talks about CrossFit® Games 2020

During these latest CrossFit® Games 2020 there have been many Comments on athletes and their performance throughout the competition.

Someone also said that the 2020 CrossFit® Games were boring due to the undisputed superiority of two athletes in particular, the reigning champions Mat Fraser e Tia Clair Toomey.

This kind of thinking doesn't just happen in our sport; many think the same way when they see Lewis Hamilton in Formula One, for example.

And we understand the feeling very well: we all love the thrill of competition, being able to see a fierce dispute to the end cheering for our favorite athletes.

In the case of these two phenomena, this is no longer the case. Their force it's so surreal to believe them"not deadly”And we are confident that they will win any challenge that is posed.

Fraser - Toomey we know the champions

What I would like to point out to you today is the observation of this supremacy from another point of view.

How many people have become sports legends today? How many of us could say we saw Pele play live? Or Muhammad Ali who fought? Or Michael Jordan on the pitch?

Today we are seeing live what could be the biggest names in history of CrossFit®. Names that will be remembered for many, many years to come.

And we see it from the results they have:

Matthew Fraser

First Games in 2014;
Second place in 2014 and 2015;
Champion in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020;
The only one to have won for 5 consecutive times the title of More Fittest on Earth;
The only one to get 6 consecutive victories in the WODs of the Games;
The biggest winner of the Games events with ben 29 victories;
Most wins in one race (2020): 14 - including the online phase;
Points difference this year with second place: 545 points;

Tia Clair Toomey

First Games in 2015;
Second place in 2015 and 2016;
Champion in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020;
The only one to have won for 4 consecutive times the title of More Fittest on Earth;
Only athlete to get 6 consecutive victories in the wods of the Games;
The biggest winner of the Games events with ben 24 wins;
Most wins in a single race (2020): 13 - including the online phase;
Points difference this year with second place: 360 points;

Performance

As much as we can argue about the final results, we think there were some epic and unforgettable moments:

The two have not only a born talent and an incredible training ability, but also a spectacular discipline that always keeps them at the top. They have a will to win, one incredible motivation and an ability to handle wods beyond the ordinary.

Eric Roza's comments

The same Eric roza, owner and CEO of CrossFit® Inc., said of them:

“The most amazing thing about the 2020 CrossFit® Games - and this era of CrossFit® - is to watch the greatest male and female athletes in our sport at their peak and compete against each other in every event.

One day, a future generation of CrossFit® fans will remember the supremacy of Mat Fraser and Tia-Clair Toomey as the time when the CrossFit® has emerged as a global sport, thanks to two legends who each year will compete not only for the title, but also for their place in history.

And that's right. And how lucky we are to be able to see the story live. Obviously, there may be other athletes of that level in the future.

There was a time when we didn't think so. When Froning won the 4th title, the documentary arrived The Fittest Man in History and it was believed that it would take some time for another like him to emerge.

That's not what happened. Fraser arrived shortly after. Nowadays, it doesn't matter how many new athletes come and show grit and will; it is difficult to say that ad today someone is able to break the records that these two athletes are still doing and will do.

All the more so now, that they train together. Always. One pushes the other to be even better… and how nice it was to see the two do the last event together, right?

Froning didn't have this and chose the dad life. Perhaps the two will stop one day to focus on their family.

Maybe someone will come and take them off the podium. Until then, instead of complaining that this is boring, why don't we rejoice at a spectacular performance by those who are the greatest of all times of our sport? "
