James Lawrence's Challenge: 100 Ironman in 100 Days

James Lawrence he's crazy! A super athlete who has set himself the goal of break all Ironman records, the toughest race of the Triathlon! And precisely for this reason, to us, he seems out of his mind 😜!

Right now, these days the 45-year-old athlete is trying to finish 100 Ironman in a row, for 100 consecutive days, without pauses!

Now, how would you define it?

Who is James Lawrence

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, James hasn't always been a super athlete. When he was 28, his wife challenged him to a 4-mile (approximately 6,5km) race, a test he struggled to complete.

Then, his wife entered him in a marathon (42km) with the intention of making him a more active adult. From that point on, he has focused his life on training and on all the smallest details for the preparation.

Seven years later, he already owned two Guinness World Records: one in 2010, for the highest number of triathlons over 70,3 distance; and another in 2012, for completing 30 full-distance triathlons in one year.

He faced these trials with the aim of raise funds to be donated to a non-profit organization to build dams in Africa.

The challenges of James Lawrence

Known today as theIron cowboy, the Canadian man is quite well known because he constantly challenges himself, especially because he likes to push himself to the limit with endurance tests, like the Ironman.

For those unfamiliar with, an Ironman trial consists of:

In 2012, James completed 30 Ironman in 11 different countries. In 2015 the goal was even greater: 50 Ironman in 50 days and, in 50 different states.

(It is not known if he had time to recover from traveling from one state to another or if he had time to sleep!).

What did he eat? Eggs and chips, everyday. He assumed about 7/8 thousand calories a day!

At the time, he said in an interview that his life "redefines the impossible". Well, what about? It had already seemed crazy to us such an undertaking ... But then ...

100 Ironman in 100 days

We are in the early days March of the 2021, 6 years after his last madness and he tries again, increasing the difficulty.

For the 100 Ironmans, James wakes up every day around 4 in the morning to have a coffee and get ready. After 1h30 of swimming, rests for 15 minutes before starting almost 7 hours of cycling. Another one in the afternoon half an hour of breath before closing the day with 5 hours of marathon.

Everything is done in his city or at outskirts of Utah, in the United States, where he lives. But the day does not end with the 226 km elapsed ...

James passes most of the time also to take care of every little one accident which it undergoes almost every day.

The athlete's entire family is focused on his superhuman goal. The wife gives him the force, an uncle runs with him, one of his daughters takes care of social media. The full staff numbers 17 people! Friends and strangers also run and bike with him, so the super athlete has company almost every day.

James Lawrence has already passed the 80 consecutive days of Ironman, so now it's in the final stage. This is already a new record, after all it has surpassed the 50 Ironman which is already in the Guinness Book.

If he succeeds in completing this challenge, the 100 days will end on June 9!

But oh well, so little is missing that we can only applaud him for this new goal!

Standing ovation James!
