The strength of women in CrossFit®: the main obstacles 5

La force and the new beauty. This is the recent reality of all CrossFit® boxes around the world. However, even today, many women are under pressure and are asked about what they want to achieve by training so much, in a sport considered by many "male".

Only girls who live daily between heavy loads, sweat mixed with magnesium and extreme WOD will understand what we are talking about. The reality is that to get to that physical defined and to those pulled muscles we must overcome many obstacles, mainly prejudices of those who are not well informed.

Let's see together which are the main criticisms most frequently implemented:

1. Listen to comments like "you're not very feminine"

Due to the changes that occur in the female body with training, some people believe that the female aesthetic canon is no longer there. But the femininity it is much more than this; it is something that the woman carries with her.

It is also the behavior, the empathy, the vulnerability to be original and the courage to stand up for one's beliefs. What makes a woman really beautiful is see its security and vulnerability at the same time.

Some characteristics of being feminine are: intelligence, kindness, empathy, sensitivity, affection, gentleness, compassion, tolerance… Which of these characteristics can be canceled simply by being a crossfit woman?

2. Feeling like giants near women who don't train

In traditional fashion canons, women are labeled as small and fragile. The crossfitter woman may seem larger, because by making the muscles active, they become visible. And often this perception is much greater in the mind than in reality.

3. Have very developed trapezius and thighs

Many strength training, many squats and lifting weights, change our body. They bring a lowering of fat percentage, increase the lean mass, make life thinner and trapezius and thighs developed.

The truth is that the human body was created to move and be active. But not only that, he is capable of lifting and transporting things. Do not try to prevent changes that occur naturally.

Your trapeze and thighs may seem too big for some, but they are a great sign of strength when you train.

The only challenge will be finding the right size jeans!

4. Explain your body mass index

BMI or IMC stands for body mass index. It's a international measure used to calculate if a person has the ideal weight. This is an easy and quick way to evaluate your own fat level. The problem with BMI is the simplicity of the formula used: consider only height and weight, without assessing the percentage of lean mass. That is, he says little about an athlete who develops muscle strength.

5. Constantly explain to people why you train

How many times has it happened to tell people about the type of workout and the weights used and they look at you with astonished faces "Who makes you do it?", or take you for mad because you wake up at 6 in the morning to go to the box?

Maybe we all went through it. Explain why it is simple: it makes us happy. This is the one and only answer for people who have complained about this lifestyle that makes us definitely satisfied at the end of each day.

Do you agree?
