Thor Björnsson defeats Eddie Hall by unanimous decision

I am provoked for months... they have made the bets to mind-boggling figures and finally thereThe highly anticipated "heaviest in history" boxing match between 2017 World's Strongest Man (WSM) Eddie "The Beast" Hall and 2018 WSM champion, Hafthor "The Mountain" Björnsson, took place at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on March 19th.

After six full rounds of fight with no limit, Hafthor Björnsson was unanimously proclaimed the winner. "The Mountain" defeated "The Beast" with the three judges' score of 57 to 54; the meeting was streamed for free and can be viewed online for those who missed it.

Both WSM champions weighed in on March 17th, St. Patrick's Day; with a height of 2,06 meters, Björnsson reached the weight of 152 kg, while Hall, 1,91 meters tall, reached the weight of 142 kg.

Björnsson entered the ring first, receiving both applause and whistles from the crowd; the crowd showed a preference for Hall, who walked in soon after.

Round 1

Björnsson approached the fight like a traditional boxer, keeping his guard up, while Hall was more confident; Björnsson threw a hard punch under Hall's right eye, while Hall landed two right-handers and a jab, leaving a nice mark on the Icelandic giant's face, but also missed several right hooks.

Both wrestlers adopted a more cautious style as the round progressed; fans continued to favor and cheer Eddie throughout the fight.

Round 2

After a hard blow from Hall, the referee had to make sure that Björnsson was able to continue; the latter recovered and threw several jabs at the opponent, who responded with the same blows. With 45 seconds left in this round, Hall knocked down Björnsson with a big right; Björnsson got up again and the round was over.

Round 3

Björnsson started this round with several jabs and Hall kept his head down so he could find an opening to throw a punch; Hall managed to score a combo of points on Björnsson, who attempted a home run, which failed.

The remainder of the round involved both men on guard until Björnsson knocked Hall down with 7 seconds left; Hall stood up and was saved by the bell at the end of the round.

Round 4

Both athletes were visibly exhausted, but Björnsson looked in better shape; Hall remained on the defensive most of the round and both missed several shots.

Björnsson landed a nice left, but Hall cashed well; both on the end of the round tried a big knockout, but it didn't come.

Round 5

Björnsson had no problem staying cautious in the final rounds, while Hall was visibly intent on a quick and direct elimination; Björnsson landed a solid jab one minute into the round and got another one 30 seconds later.

The round ended with several hits from both of them.

Round 6

The final round began with the two wrestlers exchanging a friendly punch; the first shot of the round was landed by Björnsson, who also landed a clear right jab.

Hall remained in the center of the ring, while Björnsson danced on all the ropes, looking for an opportunity to launch more attacks.

The round ended with a nice right from Hall. Björnsson and Hall exchanged a hug at the end of the round and shortly thereafter Björnsson was declared the winner by unanimous decision of the jury.
