Tia Clair Toomey-Orr launches Pregnancy Mobility Program with Pliability

The world was amazed by the performance of Tia Clair Toomey-Orr during the Open 2023 and Quarter finals of this year. Although she was pregnant and her belly had definitely exploded, the Australian has not only performed the workouts (without climbing them), but also passed the second qualifying cut.

In this way, it showed a very different profile from what we usually see in pregnant women. In fact, even pregnant women who maintain active lives with exercises were surprised by Tia Clair's performance.

This has raised a lot of doubts on the web. There are those who think that she was irresponsible and careless about the life that was born within her. Also because anyone could slip by doing a box jump (especially with extra weight, such as a pregnant belly).

Others instead supported and idolized her.

However, taking advantage of this new phase, Tia Clair has joined the Pliability and The MINT Prjct teams. The meeting served to create the Pregnancy Mobility Program, dedicated to pregnant women.

According to what was released, the program does work the woman's body safely throughout the pregnancy, reducing pain and discomfort, common during this period, as well as improving the ability to stretch and mobility day after day.

“MINT Prjct aims to educate women and their coaches on how to exercise safely and effectively to stay healthy during pregnancy and postpartum. Working with Tia was incredibly inspiring. We have seen how such an important athlete has adapted her training plans, but above all, she is pinch (made with three fingers) time to focus on her mobility and movement health during pregnancy“Cara Forrester, director of education at MINT Prjct, told the US website Morning Chalk Up.

Pregnancy Mobility Program: Flexibility to ease discomfort

Cara Forrester also explains the reasons for creating the project, which will be available on online platforms:

"Pregnancy can be uncomfortable and mobility is an area where we want women to be educated to feel better and prepare their bodies for childbirth."

However, it is Tia Clair Toomey herself who explains the benefits of flexibility work during pregnancy:

“Flexibility has been a big part of my daily routine as an elite athlete and during my current pregnancy. Naturally, I had to adjust my training plans and figure out what is and isn't safe to do. Then, with the help of flexibility and the MINT Prjct team, I was provided with the right exercises for my movement patterns and range of motion which were essential during my pregnancy.”

Another interesting aspect is that the program does not just remain in the CrossFit® context, but adapts to all sports performed by the pregnant woman.

What does Pliability do?

Last year, ROMWOD changed its name to Pliability . The change marked an expansion beyond the four walls of the CrossFit® gym and into other fitness-based businesses.

From integration with WHOOP to the creation of a mobility path for golfers, the flexibility has branched out into other sports while staying true to its CrossFit® roots.

The company, however, has announced that it has much more ambitious plans: they want to expand further by the end of the year.

Pregnancy Mobility Program already has 500 hours of programming available for the care of the pregnant woman. Being a totally online programming costs $17,95 a month (about 16€) or 179,95 dollars a year (about €163) ed it is available for IOS and Android, as well as being suitable for any web browser.
