WW4 MORI in Alghero: race recap and winners

It has been talked about a lot in recent months, Rich Froning for the first time on a floor Italian taste! Yes, that of the WW4 MORI, race organized by Massimiliano Petrucci of the Bad Boars box in Sassari.

The location chosen to host the caliber of athletes of the CrossFit® scene was nothing less than the beautiful Alghero, jewel of Sardinia.

On the field they fought over 40 teams, divided into four different categories: Open, Masters Young, Masters Classic and Elite.

The show was ensured thanks to the presence of many top national and, obviously, international athletes who really made us dream.

Let's get to the point: who won the ww4 died?

WW4 MORI: THE ORGANIZATION

Calm down guys! Let's go for parts! In the meantime, I would like to make a small clarification on the three days of competition.

In my opinion, they have been quite beautiful and demanding days. Obviously, some points have to be adjusted, but overall it was a successful competition.

I was always present at the announcements and I can guarantee you that there were no major delays in the timeline, the leaderboard was updated very quickly and there were few complaints by athletes.

I workouts were pretty challenging and could have been revealed a little earlier to the athletes, so that they could prepare for the following challenges in time.

We firmly believe that one learns by making mistakes and therefore having lived this first edition (attention, the race already existed in Sardinia, but not at these levels!), it will bring only that experience to the organizers and, maybe, next year everything will go smoothly.

WW4MORI Recap day 1:

Day 1 was quite challenging, with the first event breaking some athletes. It consisted of:

The swimming test was the one in which the athletes suffered the most, but this is the beauty of CrossFit®: putting the athletes in front of "Unusual skills".

NB: Team OnAir by Andrea Barbotti, Marta Ricottini, Stefano Carosso and Francesca Zagaglini break everything and even beat the Mayhem team!

With Marta Ricottini - Team OnAir

Afterwards, event 2 was grueling, especially for the skills in synchro. We have seen mixed couples (first one and then the other) perform:

In this WOD Team Mamma Mia (Jake Marconi, Jorge Fernandez, Michelle Basnett and Brittany Weiss) prevailed.

Mamma Mia team

The day ends with a very heavy wod, called "the playground":

What to say? Few teams have managed to finish this training. Really very tiring, but the elites didn't let us down. The show was ensured by Froning and his team who closed in just over 11 minutes.

Day one ends with this ranking:

🔸️ Open: The Boys of Mamma Cami + Acca

🔸️ Master Young: Team Albalonga

🔸️ Master Classic: Team Damned & Co.

🔸️Elite: Mayhem

WW4MORI Recap day 2:

In Alghero in the early hours of the morning there was a big storm that slightly delayed the heats.

As 4th event the athletes were entitled to:

Backbreaking. Also in this case the athletes struggled a lot, even Team Mayhem was destroyed by this test. So much so that they immediately threw themselves into the cold tub for cryotherapy!

I winners were always them, Mayhem team with 19'03 ''.

Immediately after, event 5 named "eight perfect legs" included:

2 rounds

Much easier, the athletes had fun and most of them closed it. In this WOD the OnAir team prevailed, finishing in front of everyone with an incredible time of 10'48 "

Marta Ricottini and Andrea Barbotti - Team OnAir

To finish the second day of competition, perhaps the most beautiful event (in my opinion!): maximal of Jerks.

A real show on the floor, a nice head to head between team OnAir, Power Rangers, Mayhem and Mamma Mia. At the end, Jorge Fernandez of the Mamma Mia team got the better of lifting 165kg, against 160 kg of Tyler Christofer of the Mayhem team.

Unfortunately, in this race Alessia Marchetti of the Almost200 team injured her shoulder and had to give up, but also Nicola Bonura, after lifting 150 kg of Jerk, reported an inflammation in the knee which prevented him from moving forward.

Day two ends with this ranking:

🔸️ Open: Red Fox

🔸️ Master Young: Team Albalonga

🔸️ Master Classic: Team Damned & Co.

🔸️Elite: Mayhem

THE FINAL DAY OF WW4 DIEDS

The last day of competition was held on Sunday 4th September on the floor of the Maria Pia Rugby field! Athletes like wod 7 had to perform:

TIME CAP 20'

Rich Froning & Baylee Rayl

I have to say it was fun and compelling to watch and, in this case, the Mamma Mia team defeated the competition closing with 05'24 '' followed by the Mayhem team with 05'27 ''.

For the workout called Semifinal we have seen:

Very interested in watching the elite race because The thrusters were at 80kg for the man and 60kg for the woman, not cheap!

Also in this WOD the Mayhem team prevailed and finished first, followed, however, by the team of Antea Longo (TrainLikeFight).

The lot very final waiting instead it was decidedly worse:

Devastating! Many Open athletes stopped right in handstand walk; those who passed them stopped at the MU rings.

in the category Elite, the Bad Boars team remained on the floor until the last second and we experienced a unique and exciting moment: Martina Borrini, struggling with the sandbag shoulder, visibly tired, was encouraged by the entire community (including international athletes!).

WW4 DIED LIKE MADISON, THRILLS!

Finish the final with the Mamma Mia team which closes the event with 07'22 '' followed by the TrainLikeFight team of Antea Longo which closes with 07'31.
