11 useful tips for female crossfitters

Remember that sport makes community

CrossFit® is not an isolated sport, but is closer to team sports; the box group helps to put themselves and their companions into competition.

La CrossFit® community is a large family of motivated people who always try to give their best and they encourage others to do it too; if you are lonely and easily lose motivation, here it is practically impossible, try it!

Don't worry about "too many muscles"

Many women are afraid to start CrossFit® or gym activities for fear of getting too big; women have much less testosterone than men and even with the right diet, exercise and supplementation it is really difficult to obtain a "big" muscle mass; CrossFit® will make you toned, active and full of energy!

Then no! CrossFit® won't make you fat or with too many muscles!

Watch out for loads

Il Heavy lifting promotes strength, not muscle mass; in CrossFit® you always try to increase your maximum and especially for women it is good to try to lift heavy loads because this promotes positive adaptations in the bones and connective tissues.

If you are a beginner, obviously start from low loads, it will come naturally with time and experience to increase them.

The right clothing is essential

LThe right outfit for the ideal workout isn't pretty, it's practical! It's okay to try to be fashionable, but the clothing chosen for training must first and foremost be comfortable; a short that is too short is certainly not comfortable when squatting during one squatting as is not a low cut crop top when jumping for a box jump.

Comfort is the watchword, dear crossfitter women.

Expect some bumps and bruises

In this sport some slight accident it's quite normal; always keep with you ice, arnica cream and a little patience; after some training i bruises and beatings will be your medals of valor and you will compete with your companions to see who is more "tanned".

Focus on skills

Before even focusing on loads, you have to learn the movements well; skills are essential and help reduce injuries.

By performing the movements well, you will get the best results in terms of toning and performance

You can also train at that time of the month

Although the period is a deterrent to training, try not to skip your workouts during this time; the levels of estrogen e progesterone are at a minimum these days and some scientific research shows that women recover faster in this phase and have a greater pain tolerance.

Don't compete too much

In CrossFit® you get motivated a lot, but everyone is different and has different skills and competences; the main person to challenge is you to reach the best version of yourself, so fine some healthy competition with peers, but don't take it too personally.

 Remember to drink a lot

During CrossFit® training you burn a lot of calories and energy and it's good to hydrate to the fullest; the Water consumption should be increased gradually (I only recommend it water not energy drinks or anything else!)

Nobody is staring at you!

Don't think you are the center of attention; holding back because you think you are being watched is a common mistake to many female crossfitters, but other athletes are too busy watching their performance, don't worry and think about enjoying your workout!

Reduce the time

CrossFit® is a high intensity training in which you always try to reduce the execution time of an exercise; you have to find the right balance between doing the movement well, increasing the load and trying to reduce execution times, a great challenge, don't you think?
