Powerbuilder Larry Wheels suffers a quadriceps injury during very heavy squats

Achieving a personal best in the garage is no easy feat, we know that. What do you think of a Squat PR of over 400kg?

Of course, we all dream of doing dizzying numbers in the box and, in fact, even for the famous it's no different. The powerlifter and strongman (He calls himself a powerbuilder!) Larry “Wheels” Williams is well known for his impossible feats (and for some creepy snatches too!)

This time, however, he slightly exaggerated and something a little peculiar happened ... Are you curious?

The Wheels Instagram post

It was September 16 and a video of one of his squatting definitely heavy, "superheroes" stuff.

You see the rack, a super-loaded barbell and suspension straps (which serve to hold the bar in case of a drop). Judging from the footage, the powerbuilder was pulling up approximately 900 lbs (408 kg).

As seen in the video, Williams Complete the eccentric portion of the squat before releasing pinch (made with three fingers) because he suffered a accident to the quadriceps, halfway during the ascent:

The words of Larry “Wheels” Williams

“I had a little accident that I thought might be scar tissue a few days before this lift,” Williams said. “It ended up being a real tear in the muscle. Everything was going great until I tore my quad in half 😅 Another day in the office! "

It's unclear when Wheels' injury occurred relative to when the video was posted. He was supposed to compete at the Revolution powerlifting Syndicate (RPS) Long Island Insurextion in Farmingdale on September 11, but apparently did not participate as his name is not listed on the leader board.

The athlete reiterated that he had received medical treatment for his quadriceps injury and that he is an "intramuscular tear, with tendon still attached" was diagnosed.

(well, what luck!)

Williams estimates his recovery will last from 10 to 14 days or so before the quadriceps have healed enough to be able to load it again.
