Sam Briggs, athlete who won the Fittest Woman on Earth® title in 2013, a few days ago he announced that he will be retiring from competitive CrossFit® after the 2022 season.
40-year-old Briggs gave an interview to Morning Chalk Up magazine, just days before the announcement of the first Open WOD:
“As many of you have suspected, this will be my last season in the sport. I started CrossFit® in 2009… and I immediately knew I had found my people; this is my place, ”he said.
Briggs' career as an elite athlete is nothing short of exceptional! She has always stood up to big names in the sport, until in 2020 she said she knew she was "Nearing the end of his time for racing, but he didn't want his ultimate experience at the highest level of the sport to be an online competition."

Other curiosities
In Open 2021, Briggs competed in the OUT Foundation's "OUT IN THE OPEN" initiative. After this experience, she said she wanted to do more "crazy" challenges to raise money for charity.
In addition, there is also the possibility that he will become a coach for other athletes who will want to participate in future CrossFit® competitions after his retirement!
As Briggs leaves CrossFit® and his career as a competitive athlete behind, he will remain an integral part of the sport, training in two CrossFit® boxes in Manchester, UK.
