Kara Saunders announced: Return to compete at the 2024 CrossFit® Games. However, unlike his previous 10 participations, this year the athlete will not compete as an individual, but in the Team category.
The Australian will team up with James Newbury, Khan Porter and Emily de Rooy to form the Mayhem Thunder team. In fact, the newly formed team is already considered a strong contender for this year's podium.
After all, this is a team of Games veterans: in addition to Sara's 10 years, James and Khan have five years under their belts and Emily a year of experience on that floor.

However, there's another reason why Kara Saunders chose to compete on the team this year: last year she didn't compete because she was pregnant, and it hasn't even been five months since she gave birth to her second child .
As a result, the athlete, who confirmed that he is taking his return to the sport more slowly to respect his bodyor, he preferred to test himself in a team, which is a less stressful option for his body.
“I still can't do some movements just because I need to acquire a little more force. I am fighting the battle of tight shoulders from breastfeeding and carrying a heavy baby all day,” he declared in an interview with the American website Morning Chalk Up.
While declaring her current difficulties, Kara explains how she intends to act in view of the Games:
“I'll be smart in the Open and the quarter-finals and then gradually add those things in time for the semi-finals. I'm not usually this strong, but I don't want to be that strong now either. AND recovery slower because I exclusively breastfeed, but I've done all this before, so I'll do my best and the rest will be whatever it will be,” he added.
