Amanda Barnhart, a perpetually top ten athlete in the CrossFit® Games, has announced in an Instagram post that he would leave CompTrain to return to Ohio.
"After two really great years with CompTrain in Massachusetts, my husband (Wesley Barnhart) and I have decided to return to Ohio to be closer to our family," Barnhart said in his post.

Barnhart's departure from CompTrain marks the fourth case in the last three seasons of the Games in which a high-profile athlete has left the training program, based in New England.

Other athletes who left CompTrain
Brooke Wells announced her departure in November 2020 and soon afterwards revealed that she is a PRVN athlete.
Katrin Davidsdottir left CompTrain and Massachusetts to return to Iceland to train with Jami Tikkanen and his Training Program camp last November.
Samuel Kwant, the second “fittest man in the world” of 2020, has announced on his Instagram in March that he had returned to Washington and left CompTrain, after spending the 2021 season training in Massachusetts.
Amanda Barnhart's farewell post
“After two really great years with CompTrain in Massachusetts, my husband @wesleyebarnhart and I have decided to return to Ohio to be closer to our family.
I have grown a lot as an athlete and as a person. I couldn't be more grateful for the time spent on CompTrain.
Thanks to @benbergeron, my training partners and the CompTrain and CFNE team for being our family for the past few years. We met great people and created some great memories.
We love you and we will miss you very much❤️
Now, let's move on to the next chapter. "
The departure of Amanda Barnhart
30-year-old Barnhart finished 14th at the Games this season, her worst finish since finishing 15th in 2018 as a rookie.
This decision does not surprise us ... Often, athletes simply need to change the scenario and training philosophy to keep progressing in the sport.
His departure, as stated in his post on IG, it seems to be due more to the need to return to Ohio and close to the family, just as happened to Davidsdottir and Kwant.
The outcome of this move for these two athletes had different outcomes in 2022. The effect it will have on Barnhart will depend on who chooses to be trained for the 2023 season.
But apparently we will see them all at HWPO camp ...
More losses for CompTrain
Not only did athletes quit programming, CompTrain also missed longtime coach Harry Palley, who stopped training athletes last October.
Incidentally, among the athletes he trained were Kwant and Barnhart.
Palley announced in July that yes he would join the HWPO team as a coach.
CompTrain head coach and founder Ben Bergeron and his coaching staff aren't without trump cards yet - they still have athletes like Cole Sager and Sydney Michalyshen, plus Chandler Smith.
