What is Murph?
For those who are not familiar with the “Murph“, is a tough workout, created in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a United States Navy SEAL who made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan in 2005.
The training consists of a one mile run, 100 pull up, 200 push up e 300 air squats, followed by another one mile run, all performed consecutively without pausing.
Zuckerberg's feat
Zuckerberg's feat surprised many, as the tech billionaire is primarily known for his role as co-founder and CEO of Facebook (now Meta Platforms Inc.) and for his contributions to the digital world. However, it appears that he did significant progress in his personal fitness journey and the result is impressive!
However, Mark Zuckerberg isn't the only social media giant intent on transforming his body shape. Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, Space X and a number of other companies, recently decided to get in shape.
In fact, a short time ago, Musk revealed that he is managed to lose over 6 kilos thanks to regular exercise and periodic fasting.
It must be said that the Murph challenge has gained popularity in recent years. Lee Davis, a CrossFit® athlete, managed to set an unofficial world record after completing 16 rounds of the Murph challenge.
In a 24-hour period, Lee Davis has ran a whopping 32 miles and did 1.600 pull-ups, 3.200 push-ups and did 4.800 squats.
Zuckerberg's approach to fitness
Mark Zuckerberg's approach to fitness and how he managed to complete the arduous workout in less than 40 minutes remains a subject of curiosity, however.
Some speculate that it has followed a dedicated training regime, perhaps with the help of professional trainers and nutritionists; others argue that his determination and discipline, evident in his professional life, may have also translated into his passion for fitness.
There are many people who have praised Zuckerberg's company, emphasizing the importance of setting challenging goals and constantly working to achieve them.
“I try to do the Murph challenge with the girls every Memorial Day as a tradition to honor those who stood up for us. One of Lt. Murphy's favorite workouts involved running a mile, then doing 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 squats, and then running another mile, all while wearing a 20-pound backpack. This year I closed it in 39:58. The girls did a quarter mile (without weights) in 15 minutes!”
Besides Murph's latest challenge, Zuckerberg continues to keep active. Whether it's a jiu-jitsu or weightlifting tournament, the creator of Facebook doesn't give up on testing his physical limits.
What does it take to complete the Murph?
The “Murph” workout is known for its ability to push people to their limits and reveal theirs force mental; completing such a workout requires not only physical ability, but also mental strength and the ability to overcome discomfort and fatigue.
Zuckerberg's success in completing the challenge proves his resilience and mental tenacity, equally valuable attributes in both personal and professional life.
As news of Zuckerberg's feat continues to spread, it's predicted that more and more people may feel inspired to try the "Murph" workout for themselves.
In fact, social media is already filled with stories of people taking on this challenge, which could lead to increased interest in the functional fitness and CrossFit® communities around the world.
