ZanzaRep. Neutral neutral. Composite word formed by the union of "Mosquitoes" (verb. Cheat, steal) and Rep (feminine noun. The act of repeating a movement).
But if not all reps are born equal, where do the mosquitoes end up?
An ordinary morning of the week, dawn, an unknown point on the floor inside a rack.
You are in a puddle of sweat, stretched like a starfish beached on the slightly wrinkled lining of the gym and, like the starfish mentioned above, you are gasping.
In a situation like this - how many times? - you can't help but wonder what brought you in there.
Il Crossfit. To improve day by day, both physically - from losing a few pounds to having a sculptural body - and psychologically. Fun, amplified by the inexhaustible variety of WODs.
Or maybe the spirit?
Yeah: it must be right spirit of Crossfit.

The spirit of the box: something more than a sign on the blackboard
Perhaps that of the ZanzaRep it does not seem so threatening, or so unethical. A smallness.
At bottom, what ZanzaRep does? Nothing: we scale the WOD reps, guided by the clear principle
Less reps = less fatigue = more probability of success = insured hero status
And yet, it is the moral spirit of Crossfit, what makes it such a beautiful sport.
Train every day (although you must not overlook the importance of rest days!) is hard, and is not for everyone. The results often happen more when they want them, than when you want them. You look around - as far as the position of the stranded starfish allows you - and see those who make it.
So zanzi.
It happens. I assure you: we have all been there.
The gym as a natural habitat for the mosquito
For the zanzatura we all passed by. And not just in Crossfit.
In a gym, whatever the shape of your workout, a way for mosquitoes is always found.
In Crossfit, before the reps. In bodybuilding, you take refuge in exercises that cost you less effort, and you neglect your real weak points.
If you do powerlifting, do sumo detachment (ok, maybe not everyone here agrees).
In any case, the one that makes the game dirty is just your mind.
Nobody notices, if some reps, you tell yourself.
And instead the person concerned it's really you. Make the way of the ZanzaRep yours, and open the door to failure.
Tragic?
For nothing. If you catch the reps, you sit in your comfort zone. If you get upset, don't progress: yours earnings they stagnate. Yours force of will weakens, and you miss out on so much of the beauty of practice Crossfit.
And the spirit of the box is watered down. That moral uniqueness, given by the group of people who are breaking up to do better and better, is lost.
When instead we are all there to support each other, and improve ourselves.
Are you afraid of reducing yourself like the beached starfish every morning?
You don't have to: Crossfit is doing it for you.
Tu just don't do the ZanzaRep.
