If also, you like us, you were looking forward to seeing a battle of deadlift between CrossFit® athletes vs Strongman, then this article is for you.
CrossFit® athletes Mal O'Brien e Jake Marconi they went head to head against competitor Strongman Rob Kearney.
The judge of the battle was none other than Mat Fraser, the CrossFit® legend.
If we say Mal O'Brien we certainly think of a very strong and well-rounded athlete, who not only was named rookie of the year 2021, but also won this year's Open and will participate in his 2nd CrossFit® Games as an individual after winning the Granite Games a few weeks ago.
O'Brien and Jake Marconi (another athlete hwpo extension who finished 17th at the Mid-Atlantic CrossFit® Challenge semi-final this year) accepted the challenge to see who would win in a deadlift ladder challenge against Rob Kearney.
Kearney is a Strongman contender who finished 4th in the qualifying group this year.

CrossFit® vs. Strongman Deadlift Battle
Men underwent the following training:
Deadlifts for time:
Two reps of 385 pounds (175kg)
Four 365-pound reps (165 kg)
Six reps of 335 pounds (152 kg)
Eight reps of 315 pounds (142 kg)
10 reps of 255 pounds (115 kg)
Mal O'Brien performed the same rep pattern, but with adequate weights (numbers were not specified). Was the only athlete who performed the movements using a lifting belt.
In addition, each athlete had the task of unloading the discs from their respective barbell after each round.
At the end, CrossFit® athletes prevailed. Mal O'Brie finished first, followed by Marconi and Strongman Kearney last.
While the lifts seemed incredibly lighter to Rob Kearney, having to do it at a brisk pace is completely out of his type of training.
Also, Kearney had been training deadlifts the day before, but she doesn't think things would have been better if she hadn't.
“I don't think I would have gone any faster if I hadn't deadlifted yesterday,” he said.
