She is from Genoa, she is 25 and a few years ago she moved to Turin, first for the university and then for work. She there she has found its way, a passion called CrossFit®. Today we get to know Elisa Fuliano better!
Si he trains at CrossFit® Altessano, under the watchful eye of his coach Matteo Agnello. It's only 3 years of CrossFit®, but this little athlete is causing a sensation with amazing results: 34th in the quarterfinals in Europe and 3rd in Italy at the Open 2022.
In the midst of her many commitments, she managed to dedicate some time to us, to do this beautiful interview, where all her love for what she does emerges, showing that really wanting is power!
Hello Elisa! What a pleasure to have you here! Tell us a little about yourself… We know you were a sprinter… How did your passion for CrossFit® then come about?
Hello lads! What to say? I have been practicing competitive activities for as long as I can remember, sport has always been everything to me.
I started first with artistic gymnastics and then with athletics, where I did pole vault and speed (60m, 100m, 200m, 400m). I loved running and the adrenaline I felt on the 100m straight was wonderful!
Unfortunately, when I then moved to Turin, I had to give up due to university commitments. But… soon after, my greatest sporting love came unexpectedly and by chance: CrossFit®!
I remember my first lesson perfectly: it was love at first sight and since then I haven't been able to do without it.
You have found your way and it shows in the results! You flew to the semifinals, with a beautiful 34th place at the Quarterfinals! How are you experiencing it?
It's a great feeling! A mix of pride, happiness and the result of many, many sacrifices!
Not being "An athlete" by profession, but doing anything else, it is really difficult to make ends meet: work, training, competitions, travel, events, etc ...
But it is precisely for this reason that the satisfaction in seeing me in 34th place is even greater! And this increasingly fuels my desire to do even better and aim higher and higher ...
We are curious to know how you experienced the quarter workouts. Did you have any difficulties?
The wod that got me most in trouble was the wod 3, the one with the Rope, wall ball e shuttle run.
I imagined from the beginning that it would be the most difficult for me and for my characteristics. I finished 192nd, much lower than the positions of the other wods, all between 57th and XNUMXth position.
My coach is making me work hard on the weaknesses, so that I can reach the Semifinals having worked out the weak points and be able to do the best possible.
Bravo the coach. On the other hand, however, you finished 10th overall in wod 5, beating legendary women of our sport. How did you react seeing the ranking?
Just as I knew wod 3 was going to be the worst, I knew wod 5 was where I could make a difference, I knew it was going to be mine ...
Although XNUMXth place was unexpected and a great surprise!
I first tried it on Saturday by doing one score of 3 '52 ". We did the redo on Sunday, and by fixing a few things I managed to lower it by 15 "bringing the time to 3 '37".
Seeing certain names behind mine in the rankings was a unique satisfaction!
We give you lots of compliments! Precisely for the semifinals, how are you preparing? Do you follow any programming?
La programming I follow, Demantur Program, has at least half the credit for my achievements! I am fortunate to have met Coach Teo, who with the infinite dedication and passion he puts into it is doing a great job, making me and the rest of the team perform well.
It is thanks to Demantur Program that I have come this far, I am convinced that there is no better programming and every workout is always stimulating.
We are working hard to get prepared for these Semifinals and we aim to give our all, with no regrets, to finish the race knowing that we have done our best.
In which semifinal will we see you and what do you expect?
I will be in London at the Strength in Depth, Together with Clare Salandra and Marta Ricottini.
And what about ...? It's the event I've been waiting for all year and I'm super charged!
We have been preparing for months both physically and mentally to get to the race and give 200%. I'm sure it will be a spectacular event, both to be experienced as an athlete and as a spectator.
It will be great to be in London to be able to challenge and compare with athletes I usually see on television, I can't wait!
And what about nutrition instead? Do you follow any diet?
As far as nutrition is concerned, I am followed by a nutrition biologist from Turin: Francesco Ragone. It is important to have the right energy to face workouts and training sessions, and, especially in the race, to always be able to get me in top form, in order to perform at my best.
Due to rheumatoid arthritis, mine is not a "conventional" athlete's diet and I have to pay much more attention to what I eat: it is difficult to find a balanced diet that allows me to have the right energy for workouts and that allows me at the same time to keep some health problems related to arthritis at bay.
We know that in addition to aiming for the Games, you will participate in alWW4M Crossfit® with a team together with Enrico Zenoni. How did the idea come about?
The proposal came to me directly from Zeno! We had already competed as a team at Wodagoa a few months ago finishing first, and it was a great experience.
It was the first time we wodd together but there was an immediate harmony, both with him and with our respective teams, and we had promised ourselves to do it again… so here we are!
Insieme a Martina Borrini and Michele La Robina will be ready to challenge… Rich and Haley!
We would be here to cheer for you! Just to close, can you tell us what your goals are for the 2022 season?
The main goal for 2022 was to qualify for the Semifinals, and I'm happy to have hit that.
What matters now is to enjoy this event to the fullest: get ready to give my all in the race and try to keep up with some of the strongest athletes in the world.
This season I will also do some races abroad, such as i Taronja Games in Valencia (individual) and probably another in October, but the main focus remains on the Semifinals.
We thank you very much for the interview and we wish you with all our hearts to achieve all your goals. Guys, remember to follow Elisa Fuliano not to lose anything on his goals!
Thank you very much and I take this opportunity to send a greeting to all those who follow me and cheer for me, always showing me so much warmth!
Having the support of people is always great, never stop! 🙂
