With the pandemic of Covid-19, or Corona Virus, we have seen the world completely change. What we previously saw on TV in the eastern countries, where people usually wore masks, has come down to us.
At the beginning of the problem, many doctors even admitted that the use of this product was not good, but only served to already infected people.
However, with the passage of time and the dizzying increase in cases, the masks have become indispensabili to carry out daily activities, such as working, taking public transport, shopping, going to the pharmacy and also for walking on the street.
With the overloaded healthcare system around the world, hospital masks began to wear out rapidly. We are witnessing, for example, situations in which countries with high purchasing power, such as the United States, are adopting the most varied strategies to be able to supply them in large volumes.
THE NEW MASK MARKET
Given the current scarcity of procurement, dozens of alternative which should provide security to every individual. There are millions of views and countless tutorials that teach you how to make your own “home made” fabric mask.
Some professions have also risen, such as seamstresses, who have dusted their sewing machines, making masks in fabric. Thus ensuring both an economic increase for their families and a benefit for the community. And that's fantastic!
Obviously these masks they do not have the same value of those in hospital, but they can still be a good compromise for sportsmen who will return to physical activity outdoors from now on.
In this regard, we want to mention one petition addressed to Giuseppe Conte, created by Matteo Pozzati di CrossFit Italy is requires the reopening of all boxes in phase 2, where you can read some interesting points:
- To go there you will need to book through app, so that the boxes can control their turnout to their premises;
- There will be no shared equipment: everyone will have one for exclusive use for the duration of the training, which will always be sanitized before and after the lesson;
- There will be no movement; the athletes must be inside areas delimited with lines in the floor and barriers.
- There will be sanitizing gel dispensers everywhere;
- There will be no use of changing rooms;
- The use of gloves and a mask will be mandatory.
as we can see to return to our beloved boxes from here on, it will be necessary to have a mask always with you.
MASKS: HOW TO CLEAN IT CORRECTLY
Not being able to consider the possibility of throwing your own mask every time you go home, we have discovered that many of these can be rinsed and used again.
For example those in non-woven fabric (TNT), if thoroughly washed (in the correct way that we will see below), can be worn multiple times.
Here are some tips on how to wash your mask (whether it's fabric or not):
- Wash your hands thoroughly with water and soap before putting on or removing the mask from the face;
- Put on or remove the mask holding the back (elastic), avoiding touching the front;
- Immerse the mask in water and neutral soap for 30 minutes and rinse well after;
- The mask must be 100% dry before being reused;
OTHER FINDINGS
- No disinfectants are needed (they can ruin the material);
- Do not wash the masks in the washing machine: the elastic bands could break;
- The mask is individual and cannot be shared;
- The use of the mask does not replace hand hygiene;
At the end of each workout, remember to wash it well. Always keep with you multiple backup masks to make exchanges in case of need.
Needless to remind you not to put the dirty mask in contact with other materials, right? Keep it in a special bag!
Good workout!
