One of the toughest CrossFit® athletes we've ever met, has just officially announced that she will no longer compete in competitive CF. Sam Briggs she retires from our sport after finishing seventh in the semifinal Strength in Depth, held in London on the weekend of 11 June.
With just a few words and a photo of a shoe on the competition floor, Sam Briggs, the fittest woman in the world of 2013, has announced that she will no longer compete.

“London you were amazing,” she wrote in her Instagram ad. “Thanks for all the support over the past 13 years. Now is the time to put out more fires ”.
Even if she finished seventh and is eligible to participate in the Last Chance Qualifier, apparently, the athlete does not include all of this in his plans.
Unfortunately, for CrossFit® lovers, there will be one less legend to see competing in future Games.
She had already mentioned that this would be the last chance in which he would compete in an interview with Marston Sawyers , one of the directors of the Buttery Bros, during the Wodapalooza of 2022.
Now it's official: she'll be back as a firefighter.

According to the official CrossFit® dashboard, Sam Briggs first competed at the Open in 2011 and was ranked 3 ° all over the world.
Two years later she would become the fittest woman on Earth, the only UK athlete to do so to date.

Other curiosities
In the Open 2021, Briggs competed in the OUT Foundation's "OUT IN THE OPEN" initiative. After this experience, she said she wanted to do more "crazy" challenges to raise money for charity.
