Let's talk a little about last events of these first weeks of the year! In our opinion, 2023 started off with a bang, right?
In addition to having witnessed one one-of-a-kind show at the floor in Miami, al TYR Wodapalooza, which crowned Ricky Garard and Paige Powers as winners, at Christmas there was also the news that Tia Clair Toomey is pregnant and will not participate in the 2023 CrossFit® Games season.

What do we think of Tia Clair Toomey's absence at Games 2023?
We have learned this news kinda like when Fraser announced his retirement, after the fifth victory at the Games, when he left the men's elite division.
At the 2021 Games, the first without Mat Fraser, everyone wondered who would take over as champion. This fact made the competition even more exciting and we saw the rise of Justin Medeiros as heir to the throne.
Even in 2022 the American athlete managed to bring the title home by Fittest on Earth, but not with the same points difference from 2nd place as Fraser used to do. We saw a Ricky Garard very prepared, who even wore the Leader's jersey during the race.
These changes made the Games more exciting, both for those who watched but especially for those who competed, since the top step of the podium was not so far away and difficult to reach.
The same goes for the women's category this year. The winner won't be so obvious and Madison's floor will be a real bloodbath, since there are so many pretenders to the throne!
Who will win the 2023 Games? The candidates
This is the big question of the year! We did a survey on our Instagram account (If you don't follow us, get started now :P), giving voice to the community!
In fact, this article is a summary of what transpired!
Mal O'Brien
One of the names most cited is that of Mallory O'Brien. The American athlete, one of the youngest of the elite women, is one of the great promises of this sport!
Mallory concluded his first participation in the Games 2021 in 7th place and last year he got the 2nd place. In fact, she probably would have taken the top step of the podium at last year's Rogue Invitational, but opted not to participate.
Without a doubt Mat Fraser's starlet is one of the names that we will be able to see jump into first place.
Annie Thorisdottir
Another big name in contention for the podium is that of Annie Thorisdottir. Even if last year he participated in the Games in the team category, this year he will definitely be back in the individuals!
Dopo un break period due to pregnancy, Annie managed to finish the 2020 Games in third place and last year had the second place at the Rogue Invitational.
Without Tia, maybe this is the right year for Annie to take the coveted first place!
Laura Horvath
To the list is also added Laura Horvath, Hungary's fittest woman since 2017. In 2018 he took second place at the European Regional and second place at the Games in his debut.
In 2021 she succeeded agearning 2nd place again, while last year she placed XNUMXrd and was champion at the Rogue Invitational.
He also takes home the victory at Wodapalooza 2023, in the team category, together with Gabi Migala and Jamie Simmonds.
With these results, his is probably another big name for the podium at the 2023 Nobull CrossFit® Games!
Emma Lawson
Another name mentioned by the community is that of Emma Lawson. The Canadian athlete managed to get noticed together with Mallory, due to her young age.
This eighteen year old is achieving good results since her debut at the Games and, even if she is not yet on the podium of the event, he took third place at the Rogue Invitational last year and had a strong showing at the 2022 Games, finishing 6th overall.
Danielle Brandon
Also Danielle Brandon is a strong contender for the podium: Last year the American came close to finishing on the podium in fourth place, just 44 points behind third place.
Brandon has grown up in competition and can undoubtedly be one of the great athletes to give a hard time in the women's category.
Other names mentioned
However, there are still other interesting names in the running that can make the dispute even more intense. We have Katrin Davidsdottir who, although she didn't have a good 2022, as she failed to get a seat at the Games, she could do well this season.
Even names like Broke Wells, Ellen Turner, Kara Saunders, Haley Adams, among others, could surprise us and make the difference in the battle for the title of Fitterst on Earth!
Now we're curious... but who do you think will win the 2023 Games?
