Two athletes from two different teams, who provided the samples after their respective semi-finals, tested positive for the doping test, more precisely for GW1516, known as Endurobol or Cardarine.
Athletes and teams are, according to CrossFit®, the following:
Hunter Williams of Team CrossFit® CLT provided a sample which contained GW1516 sulfoxide, a metabolite of GW1516. The team was al 2nd place in the Syndicate Crown of May 22, 2022.
Jaylond Franklin of CrossFit® Shoofly Storm Squadron provided a sample which contained sulfoxide GW1516 and sulphone GW1516, metabolites of GW1516.
This team also made it to the 2nd place in the Mid-Atlantic CrossFit® Challenge on May 29, 2022.
The result has not yet been formalized. When an athlete is tested, two samples are provided. If sample A is positive for any prohibited substance, a retest on sample B can be requested.
This is what is being done now.
Kevin Steinhaus, one of the CrossFit® CLT team members, posted a post on his Instagram talking about the test and stating that Hunter Williams was caught due to cross-contamination with a supplement.

Jaylond Franklin commented in an interview that it was his first year competing in earnest and that he was testing various supplements, also taken by friends, without paying particular attention to what he was taking.
It is worth noting that when the athlete manages to prove cross-contamination, the athlete receives a punishment of less than two years, as in the case of the Brazilian athlete Lari Cunha.
However, the FC is extremely strict and regardless of everything always holds athletes accountable for what they take.

What is Cardarine
The Cardarine is a SARMS (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators) well known among CrossFit® athletes. The most famous case would be that of Ricky Garard, who missed third place and the podium in 2017 and got 4 years of punishment.
He will now be returning to this year's Games after being away for so long.
Endurobol - GW 501516
Endurobol (GW 501516 or Cardarine) is a chemical developed in the 90s to prevent and treat the formation of tumors in the colon, prostate and breast.
Studies conducted in the early 2000s found that GW 501516 and other PPAR agonists were also capable of stop metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes through specific gene expressions.
Endurobol also has the ability to burn excess adipose tissue, improve the recovery and significantly increase endurance.
The research was abandoned in 2007 because animal tests showed that the drug caused the rapid development of cancer in various organs.
WADA developed a test for GW501516 and other related chemicals and added them to the banned list in 2009; has also issued further warnings to athletes reminding that the GW501516 is not safe.
